As I see it, these are the two most likely to amount to something of the up and coming heavies...... Each comes from a country that has yet to produce even a heavyweight titleholder (cuba/Mexico), so both would make boxing history, of sorts, if they were to at least win a meaningless single title......

Arreola has the better record, but I think Solis has more potential, from what I've seen, anyway..........And I'd take Solis to beat Arreola, if they were to get in the ring.

In addtion to these two guys you have several others who are deserve mention........

    Jason Estrada
    Travis Walker
    Chazz Witherspoon
    Kevin Johnson......etc.

But of them all, I think Solis is the most promising, and if he continues to evolve and get himself in better condition, I think he'll be better than Povetkin. I think Povetkin lacks the potential that has been put on him, lacks impressive power, and is about to be sent home embarrassed, after his next fight with Wladimir.

As I see it, and as it stands now, of all of the up and comers, Solis's career is the one I am the most interested in following.

Here's a little hype clip of Solis.

Solis is the best talent, he's the best boxer but I think he lacks power (He won by UD on Julius Long who was stopped before by Tye Fields, Samuel Peter & Fraudley Harrison). He needs to lose weight and I don't know for professionals cuban boxer, they have the skill but they seem to enjoy their liberty too much (and I understand them)...

Both very good, Solis more technically skilled, Arreola has more pro experience and is a lot more raw... A match in a year between the two polished articles will make BIG noise.....

Chris Arreola was born in Los Angeles California. Los Angeles and the rest of California has not been part of Mexico sence 1847.

Heavyrighthand does your dogging of Povetkin have to do with nationalist tendencies? Seriously he has KO'd higher quality foes than either of these two, and Solis' power has noticeably dropped off with the minor step up in opposition he has faced.

Of these two I am taking Arreola. Sure Solis is better schooled, he is also coming in north of 250, and has been fighting worse opposition.

And, despite what you think, Povetkin is hands down the best prospect wit hthe best young fighter in the division being Chagaev.

And I will keep on ranting, about lacking impressive power, do you think for a second that Julius Long would have gone the distance with Povetkin? Are you impressed with stoppage wins over Jeremy Bates and Chad van Sickle? Seriously if I didn't know any better I would swear you're trying to convince yourself that Povetkin is no threat to Wladimir despite him having fought some of the best opposition of anyone in the division and still maintaining a 75% KO ratio.

Kevin Johnson will not amount to much especially if he goes through with a fight with David Haye. I mean come on a featherfisted guy with no power v a suspect chinned powerpuncher, both with good skills. I see Haye ripping away Johnson's unbeaten record inside 4 rounds. Johnson has only fought stiffs.

Solis seems to be going backwards after fighting a fairly tough first three opponents (well at least for someone starting out in the Pro's)
He has gone down a few levels from Aldo Colliander and Alex Mazikin to complete bums like Chad Van Sickle, Adrian Rajkai, Mamuka Jikurashvili & Harry Duivan. He needs to fight someone in the top 30 at least now. David Rodriguez rated 25 by the WBC, who has fought nobody would be a decent fight that Solis can win comfortably, then maybe a Danny Williams. He needs to raise his profile soon and this can only be done with stateside televised bouts against decent opposition. Also weighing in at under 240lbs would be a wise move too.

Arreola needs to continue stepping up his competition he had been steadily increasing the level of competition but still needs some recognizable names on his record. A match with Minto or Travis Walker might be a good start.

Jason Estrada has been fighting decent level foes but needs to fight some of the other young guys as well as the veterans he has fought (such as Lance Whitaker, Robert Hawkins) Maybe a rematch with Travis Walker ?

Arreola has already made an appearance on HBO, and his next fight will likely be a marquee event or on the undercard of a major fight. So, it's safe to say that he's already there.

Let's see Solis actually fight someone who's worth a damn before we crown him the next King of the Heavyweight Division.

BTW - Arreola is from the United States.

Povetkin is the best young heavyweight but he is a legit top 10 contender at this point I wouldn't label him a prospect anymore. Between Solis and Arreola, Solis seems to have more upside but I don't know if he'll achieve it. Arreola would beat him right now and could have the better career. To hard to tell yet as a lot can happen.

Solis has talent, but he has a long way to go to catch up with Povetkin.

Jason Estrada deserves to be mentioned,eh!! You must be joking!

Solis and Boytsov are the most promising young guns out there.

Estrada? Nothing more than one of these protected American mediocre fighters with padded records.

I don't know how much noise Estrada will or will not make but one thing I can defintely say is that he has been far from protected. For a guy with 15 professional fights he has been moved quickly. Much quicker than Boystov for sure.
