I said in 2 or 3 threads he'd stop Barrett inside of 3. I think Monte's a good guy but at this point he's just there to pick up a paycheck.
Barrett should hang them up at this point 38 years old and he looks like he does not have the fire or spark to be in the ring anymore.
This reminds me of when Arreola beat McCline. Young, out of shape prospect beats tierd old b-level fighter and everyone pretends it's an accomplishment and a sign he can fight the best. Plain and simple you have to eat, sleep and breath boxing to beat Wladimir or Vitali, Solis would be crushed like the rest. I don't even favour him over guys like Chambers and Haye.
I agree. Let's not forget that it took Solis an 8 round UD to get by Julius Long. And 271 is way too heavy for someone 6′ 1½″. The bottom line is that right now he is way too lazy, and if he ever gets in the ring with a Klitschko, I think he'll pay for it big time.
Hard to make any kind of accurate assessment of Solis based on tonights fight. It appears to me that two Guns is definitely shot.
In the long run, this won't serve him very well. He'll be convinced he can win at the top level in the type of condition he came into this fight in. The truth is, though, that if he wants to be successful at the top level in this sport, he's going to have to get in better shape than he is now. He's obviously got the skill and natural talent to be a great fighter, but it takes more than that. One has to be committed to make it to the top in a sport as demanding as boxing. Say what you want about the Klitschko brothers, but they take their craft seriously and don't disgrace themselves or the sport by coming into fights out of shape. If Solis can learn to do the same, and it seems he's going in the opposite direction, then he will very well be in the upper echelon soon enough.
