Solis actually thinks he deserves an immediate rematch against Vitali. Injury or not I don't believe a 1st rd KO loss justify s a rematch. I present this question to the classic because they have more of a historic feel for the question.

I think Solis has to prove himself against a top contender

Solis has to prove he can come in the ring in top condition, he was the 200 lb champ in the amateurs, he is now 250

He landed a few glancing blows vs Vitali but folded after the 1st right hand. Do you really think he did anything of substance to deserve a rematch?

What are your thoughts. Should he get an immediate rematch or have to get back in line and work his way back?

    I absolutely agree with you.

To make the case even stronger, I guarantee with a bum knee like that itll be close to, if not more than, a year before he can get back in the ring. An aging champion like Vitali has no reason to give him a comeback after year on the bench. Vitali may not have much more than a year left in the game.

They can each have a fight later in the year and then fight each other early next year. It looked like it was gonna be an interesting fight.

In the 1910s both men would have had their purses withheld and they'd fight 5days later. Solis says he'll fight for free and everyone can have their tickets to watch it again, sounds good

I wouldn't personally have any interest in seeing it.
But then I didn't have any interest in seeing them fight the first time, to be honest.

Well, I think this was a freak accident and had not much to do with Vitali. The first one should be ruled a NC and they should get it on again.

    His knee is exploded.

So I kind of agree with you Bummy, he needs to box back.

Of course, arguably Viatli isn't the legit #1 champion...you could make a case that taking on Vitali off the mark is like Ali coming back and taking on Quarry or something.

He didn't do anything to earn a shot in the first place, so perhaps he should fight some contenders first.

Secondly, he came in fat becasue he is a lazy piece of **** that doesn't respect the history or the prestige of a title, his weight is very likey the largest contributing factor to his injury.

Thirdly, he should have hobbled about and took a bit of punishment and look to land something, at least get the doctor to stop it instead of just rolling about on your ass and quiting so easily at such a huge event.

    Solis is a joke.

He tried to get up his knee gave way, I suggest you try doing the same on a cruciate knee ligament injury

He is a fat lazy tub of ****ing lard with no heart. If he actually kept himself in shape he wouldn't have got injured.

He could have got up, he chose to quit, he should not have been paid.

He was a nice guy, just not a great champ.
PS Williams had second thoughts about facing Ali had had to be virtually dragged out of his dressing room.
This was corroborated by Hugh Benbow, his manager.
