Kathy Duva comments on Adamek-Solis NBC clash

"You cannot ask for more"Kathy Duva comments on Adamek-Solis NBC clash

    "You cannot ask for more"

“We are not ready to officially announce the Tomasz Adamek (47-2, 29 KOs) – Odlanier Solis (18-1, 12 KO) blockbuster fight on December 22 yet, but we are we very close to doing so. There’s agreement in place about the money, site and date of the fight with Ahmet Oner, Odlanier Solis promoter. We are just finalizing some details right now,” said Main Events CEO Kathy Duva in a Fightnews.com interview.

This will be a historic event for US boxing – top fighters battling on giant open network – NBC – in a prime Saturday afternoon timeslot.

This is a big deal. A very big deal. NBC hasn’t broadcast late afternoon fights in 20+ years and we are talking about top heavyweight fighters, championship contenders here in Tomasz Adamek and Odlanier Solis. Our card will be broadcast from Sands Casino and Resorts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at a fantastic time, between 4 and 6 PM. This I can announce right now and we are very proud to be part of this NBC boxing afternoon.

We are talking about two fights televised live by NBC – any word about the co-main event?

Nothing to report publicly, not yet, but fans of world class boxing shouldn’t be worried. We will deliver great fights. We also have a back-plan if – God forbid – something happened to one of our main event starts. Again, without mentioning any names – top ranked fighters are on standby but we are all assuming it will be Adamek versus Solis. We aren’t ready to officially announce the Tomasz Adamek-Odlanier Solis blockbuster fight on December 22 yet, but we are we very close to doing so. There’s agreement in place about the money, site and date of the fight with Ahmet Oner, Odlanier Solis’ promoter. We’re just finalizing some details right now.

Odlanier Solis cancelled his previously announced for October 12 fight against Leif Larsen in Madrid, to be better prepared for fighting Adamek?

I don’t know the reason for Solis not fighting in Spain. Main Events wasn’t involved in this event. I spoke with Ahmet Oner just the other day – everything is fine. Solis is getting ready for Adamek in his Big Bear training camp.

Odlanier “La Sombra” (Shadow) Solis is a tricky, very skilled fighter who until now presented just glimpses of his enormous talent. “Goral” Adamek is one of the toughest, mentally strongest fighters in all boxing; both of them want the same thing – Wladimir Klitschko’s belt…

Adamek will have to be on the top of his game to win this fight; the same has to be said about Solis and they both know what’s at stake. As a boxing fan, you cannot ask for more and this is why we made this fight.

Sure, he was petrified about that freak fighting in a circus in Madrid .
Instead he's gonna fight a real boxer, solid HW on national tv in USA .

NBC showing boxing is extremely important in selling the sport to non-boxing fans right now.

Yeah, and we all know damn well that team Adamek has provisions in place to ensure that Solis was ready for that date. And they can't be blamed.

This is a great fight that been in the works since like August.

Glad Solis passed on Larsen. He can KO that BUM anyday he wants. No sense running to the garbage heap for opposition:yep when a top 5 it waiting for you on a big ticket card
