Just heard this fight will happen. Are both fighters prepared? It's a tournament with several heavyweights. WBC World Cup Heavyweight Tournament Fight Solis record : won 20 (KO 13) + lost 1 (KO 1) Takam record :won 28 (KO 22) + lost 1 (KO 0)
Great fight, Takam is also very good and a general threat to Odlanier. If Solis is under 255 he wins.
I support any fight between contenders, even if they are on the fringe. The WBC tournament is exciting for this reason alone. Weed out the weak and allow the best to rise to the top.
Carlos Takam did good in winning by Ko against Micheal Grant. Grant really looked bad in that fight though so Carlos didn't beat the same Micheal Grant as we've seen in other fights but rather a version of him that needs to retire. Still a good win. Solis had a good run prior to his Klitschko fight. Way I see it Solis lost his fight VS Klitschko way before he ever entered the ring that night. Since losing to Klitschko he's had three fights, first one was against Konstantin Airich a fight in which Solis simply looked done, the second one was against Leif Larsen and while it wasn't Solis's best fight he did look 100 times better than he did vs Konstantin. Then we had the Yakup Saglam fight and I really don't think that Solis looked as good vs Yakup as he did VS Leif so he isn't improving fight from fight or anything like that. Carlos isn't the same lame fighter as Yakup is so I'd give Carlos a 50/50 chance of going home with a win if the same Solis that fought Yakup shows up. If well trained and motivated version of Solis however comes to the ring that night then Carlos really shouldn't stand a chance.
I agree. Takam has never really been tested, but has looked OK against average opponents, while Solis was way below his best against Larsen.
I for one don't think that Solis looked all that bad against Larsen. I do however think that Solis didn't have the right style to dominate Larsen. If by any chance Solis shows up in the same awfull shape as he did against Konstantin Airich then Takam will simply toy with him.
Does this fight really happen in two days, haven't heard much about it and then the fight is here. I've only seen a bit of Takam but I'd still go with Solis. Of course his weight is always going to be an issue but I think he beats Takam, if the fight does happen.
WBC on their website mentioned that several channels will be involved in showing the World Cup. http://wbcboxing.com/wbceng/news/1466-wbc-world-cup-poised-to-launch "Televisa, Fox Sports, Fox Deportes, Alba Vision and TDN" ...so any of those (or none) could be carrying Solis vs. Takam...which narrows it down a bit. :!:
