Awesome quote, right on. That said, if they actually do fight, I think Solis should be the slight favorite. Like the Pulev fight, I expect Thompson to win most of the rounds in the first half of the fight, then gas out if he can't ko him. I think Solis has a slightly better chance to ko Thompson than Pulev had, but if I had to bet, I'd say Solis in a close UD or MD. Really hope this fight happens, but considering the year of great hypothetical fights that fell apart in the HW's last year, (including when Solis ducked Johnson), I'll only believe it when I see it.

Don't think David Price or Mo Harris would be inclined to agree with you.

And in his prime, doing the local shows, he was beasting his opposition.

Sadly it took him until he was 34,35 to get a look from the main stream fight fans, but you know if ZCBYM or I was on ESB back in his TNF days, we'd both be giving him hella props.:yep:yep

VS Vitali it was clear he had the "talent" to contend....however, his knee bent the wrong way when Vitali buckled him with counter hook.

VS Larsen, Solis had to play it safe. Larsen hadnt showed a dent in his chin, and Solis isnt exactly Deontay Wilder in the power punching dept. He fought a smart fight, mixing up his punches, maintaining a proper professional distance to fight at, and he won an WIDE decision. Many thought Solis shut out the kiddie fiddler.

Against Thomspon, Solis will land the OH R whenever he comes in with his double jab. Thompson is not gonna want to take too many of those and he'll look to spoil from outside with a jab and grab type defense.

I think Solis catches the Tiger late rds and wobbles him and the ref halts it b/c Tony never finds his offense.

Solis SHOULD win this fight easily.
Thompson is super slow, has poor defence and half the boxing skills as Solis.
That being said, out of all the Cuban fighters, Solis is probably the one who trains the least, is the easiest to hit and whose mindset is the weakest.

Because of the above flaws in Solis's game, I expect this to be a very good competitive match-up.

    Solis by majority decision

I believe Perez (WBC)and Ortiz (WBA) could win a title this year.
Solis is not the best cuban heavy today.

david price was a novice and nearly had thompson out. and mo harris? he looked like garbage and had almost 20 losses.....
Fact is, a nearly 43 year old tony thompsons best win is... (fill in blank)
he is known for getting knocked out 2 times by wlad and being underserving a shot in fight 2

I would say that fattest version of Solis would lose to Thompson, who is painfully slow, but is a smart fighter and I think he would use his superior fitness to an advantage. In fact I do fully expect Solis to come massively out of shape and lose disgracefully

I wouldn't say that, at least until one of them wins a title, they still need to prove themselves.

Skillwise, I have no doubt that neither of those guys are in the league of Solis, especially Mike Perez, who doesn't fight a typical Cuban style and gets hit a lot. Luis Ortiz should fight Chagaev this year for the WBA regular title. Although Chagaev is past his best, Ortiz is an underdog and if he wins, no doubt he'll be #1 among the Cubans at HW.

Easy win for Solis. I know TT was able to beat Price a fighter I was sold on but he lost to feather fisted Pulev due to stamina. TT's best days are behind him. I likek the fact he is willing to fight anyone but Solis will be to much for him.

Yeah I agree a younger TT beats Solis with ease. He also would have beat feather fisted Pulev with ease.

Vlad knocked Thompson out two times, so I do not know how much Thompson has left, but if Thompson is in top shape he can make the fight very interesting..............I have to, at least, give Solis some credit for fighting Thompson and fighter that Wilder refused to fight. We will see what Wilder was so afraid of...............

Didnt Tony KO Prive twice, and give Pulev all he could handle for 5 rounds, until he gassed? And remember, Tony fought Pulev 5 weeks...5 WEEKS after Price 2
