Its utterly pointless as an eliminator, they've both had their chance already. Its just a fairly high proifle fight with 'eliminator' status to attract attention
Anyone else get the feeling the fix is on? Don King obvioulsy manuevered this to get Valuev more money agaisnt Vitaly, but Valuev has to actually beat a guy who, despite being grossly out of shape, is an extremely talented fighter? I think this game is going to be rigged.
Perhaps also Valuev is hoping by the time the eliminator is all said and done Vitali would have retired and thus he wont have to face him to pick up the strap:silly
A bit strange that Valuev turned down a Vitali fight and is now fighting for a shot at the very same fight with Vitali. Unless he thinks he can make more out of a purse bid this is an odd move for Valuev. I think Solis wins this one if it does come off. He's going to be too quick for Valuev and once he gets inside he'll really tee off on the giant. I'm pulling for Solis since the heavyweights could use some new faces and Solis is more exciting than Valuev. He just needs to drop some weight and he becomes one of the best in the division.
Valuev is the single greatest pugilist of all time in the HW division and one of in the p4p sense. If Solis were to beat him without pot shotting and running, he would automatically become the linear champion. If he were to beat him the way Haye and Chagaev did, then he'd at least be an ATG. Of course he only has a chance because Niko is so far past it.
