Perez is hopping up and down, throwing jabs at the face of Martinez. When Martinez ducks in place, Perez slaps at the body with a right and then finishes with a left hook on the nose. Martinez stands in and jabs the body, landing a hard right hand on the face of Perez. Good action in center ring. Perez is doubling a jab, ducked by Martinez. Counter right hand from a crouch by Martinez. Perez is dancing to his left, blocking 1-2s. Martinez doubles a hard jab into Perez's guard. Long jab to the body by Perez with a far-reaching step from outside. Martinez chops him with a right hand on the coif. Perez is burrowing his head in the clinch and the ref calls for a break. FLUSH right hand by Martinez, backing Perez into the ropes.

Perez is ducking forward with the overhand right and snapping upright with big left hooks. Martinez is slugging it out with him, staying inside even as Perez repeats the pattern and getting caught with those punctuating hooks but hanging tough. Perez is tossing left jabs from outside and getting backed out by the right hands of Martinez. Perez is hurling in big wind-dragging right hands over the top, missing as Martinez ducks. Martinez catches the follow-up body hook on his elbow and counters with big right hands and left hooks on the head. Perez is getting rocked in exchanges toe to toe with Martinez but surges and lands several hard shots of his own.

Perez is leading with hooks around the side and jabs to the body. Perez leaps straight in throwing body shots and clasps until a break is ordered. Martinez is putting up the 1-2 and keeping his arms narrowly bunched up and body turned askew, making himself a skinny target so that Perez's shots often sail wide. Martinez ducks a left hook and pushes off. Big thudding combo on the hips by Perez, falling into another clinch. Short left hook on the jaw by Perez. Martinez backs him off with a left uppercut. Left hook by Martinez. Double jab by Perez, backing away with his mitts turned out to catch. Perez is warned for straying low. Left hook on the tip of the nose by Martinez.

Martinez is lunging up with right hands and following with left hooks as Perez looks to shut him down with 1-2s and solo looping rights. Martinez gets in close and plants a hard uppercut on the bottom of Perez's jaw. Fat hooks by Perez, ducking forward. Martinez muscles Perez into the ropes and fires a couple of hooks, missing as Perez backs out. Perez lands a right uppercut and turns over a right hook on its heels.

Martinez is pressuring with a tight, balled-up posture and busy hands whenever in range, putting as much venom into every set-up jab as fully loaded hooks. Perez is getting in some counter right hand chops on the back foot but is getting caught with straight and looping rights between the eyes and unable to consistently stay off the ropes.

Martinez is clocking Perez on the forehead with the overhand right after squatting and leaning in. Perez loops big right hands into Martinez's path but can't slow him as Martinez is content to evade what he can with his up-and-down, side-to-side, wispy target defense and simply walk through all the rest, even powerful hooks from Perez. Martinez is scrubbing the upper part of Perez's gloves with the jab, knocking the guard down a couple of inches with each one. Martinez is walking him down and just missing with huge looping rights. Hard jab on the forehead from outside by Martinez.

Round 9

Martinez is attacking but finding Perez increasingly mobile. Perez is using constant tiptoe footwork, perhaps having shored up some energy for these late rounds. Perez is looking very spry and landing counter overhand rights flush on the face when Martinez comes forward. Perez is jabbing as Martinez comes in with a spearing right on the body and they clash heads. Big hooks on the body by Perez backing up as Martinez throws jabs and wide rights up at his face. Perez is now showing a big of defense as he moves toward the ropes and ducks a few shots. Once on the ropes Perez's bag of tricks bottoms out as Martinez finds him with a HUGE clubbing right and left hook. Perez moves off the ropes but is soon walked onto them again. Uppercut on the chest by Perez as Martinez comes straight at him and pins him.

They exchange on the inside, Perez strafing and fishing to the body. Perez has a point taken for low blows. Time in. BIG shots traded up close. Both are just headhunting with big clubbing blows now. Perez puts together a left uppercut, looping right, and left hook buried into the neck of Martinez all while stepping to his right. Martinez ducks a couple of wide shots and pops a right hand up into Perez's face. Martinez is jabbing into Perez's arms and loops a right into the side of his head. Body shots both ways as they press close. Perez is tired, leaning on Martinez. A minute left. Flurry downstairs by Perez. BIG windmilled right by Martinez. Perez is shoved into the ropes and stands his ground with hooks on the body. Martinez lands a big right hand on the kisser, then shoulders Perez across the ring, nearly into the ropes. Perez is ducking and flailing his upper body against the ropes, throwing hooks at the body as Martinez clubs and wails at him.
