    Official cards:

    Jerry Roth 96-93 Perez
    R. Hoyle 96-93 Martinez
    Tim Cheatum 96-93...

    SD for Martinez

Costly for Perez, he was suppose to get a title shot at Walters on the Donaire-Vetyeka undercard. Another case of a tune-up gone wrong.

Martinez is a really handy journeyman.

In the last several years (nearly a decade) his only clear and non-competitive loss was to pound for pound star Mikey Garcia.

In that span he ran both MiniBurgos and Edner Cherry very close, has a couple of defeats to others by split decision...and has ground out some decent victories (Bernabe Concepcion, the Jose Hernandez who popped Jason Litzau's cherry...pummeled into retirement by Martinez...and now the red-hot Perez who came in riding a streak of four knockouts since his 2011 loss to Diego Magdaleno)

Yeah, JC surely just spoiled those plans.

Of course, he probably won't get the shot at Walters himself - but he still gets to feel good about knocking off a guy that was ranked and in that position.

On the non-televised undercard, Brian Viloria beat Juan Herrera by UD10.

Not a terribly sharp performance by the looks of it from Viloria - made to work hard in a gimme confidence builder and marked up by a guy who's now a loss away from a .500 record. :!:

Can we get a translation of his interview (end of video) from our Spanish-speaking brethren? Curious to see what Brian has to say about this unexpected apparent difficulty.
