    Round 3

Herrera is shaking off tie-ups and leaning forward, ramped under the pull-back right jabs of Buelvas. A few right hooks from Buelvas tickle Herrera's left ear around his guard. Left jabs for Herrera score even as Buelvas drops into a reclining position and pulls his head back. Herrera comes in with the jab and Buelvas hooks sloppily behind the head and clinches.

    10-9 Herrera

    30-27 Herrera

    Round 4

Herrera is starting to drop in crosses behind the jab now, and dipping his face to either side opposite whichever hand he's punching with. Buelvas is launching overhand lefts from the back hip, lurching in toward Herrera and meeting him halfway, leading to some head clashes. Herrera is bothered, pawing at his eye. Buelvas starts looping in lefts and scoring while leaned back, sometimes flush and sometimes bashing through Herrera's upheld glove and slamming it against his face. Herrera's offense a bit disjointed now, maybe trouble seeing from the butt.

10-9 Buelvas, barely. One less left and I'd have called it 10-10.

    39-37 Herrera

    Round 5

Herrera is faking the jab and then chopping Buelvas with rights. Buelvas' herky-jerky attack is no longer troubling Herrera, now mimicking it. Herrera leans a few inches to either side on the way in, wavering loosely before throwing sneaky lead rear-fist overhands. Buelvas dislikes the taste of his own medicine and seems unnerved by Herrera's regained confidence and lack of lasting distress from the butt in the 4th. Buelvas now backing up again, still throwing but tentatively, stay-away punches.

    10-9 Herrera

    49-46 Herrera

    Round 6

Another headbutt. This time Buelvas is affected the worst. He is given a moment to recover, blinking. Time in. Herrera is throwing away jabs up top and then slicing wide rights at the body as Buelvas pulls his upper body away, bending backward at the waist. Herrera is ripping the body with both hands now, pendulous shots as Buelvas crosses his arms over his stomach and twists in retreat, wincing. Herrera is backed off by a series of heavy lefts up top, but covers up and wraps his left arm over Buelvas' right, thumping Buelvas on the body with his own right hand. Buelvas pushes at Herrera's clavicles with both palms, head in his throat, and slashes with lefts. Herrera backs up and lands a right hand. Straight lead left by Buelvas. Herrera nods and asks him to bring it. Looping right by Herrera, grazing. Buelvas falls in, clinch. Break. A couple of light jabs by Herrera, Buelvas walking onto them.

    10-9 Herrera

    59-55 Herrera

    Round 7

Herrera inches to his left and twitches both gloves outward without releasing a punch. Buelvas commits to being first and touches him with right jabs. Herrera is swinging big left uppercuts into the body. Buelvas is slamming down with the left hand, catching Herrera on the lip, then shoving out into his neck with both gloves to guide him into position for more. Herrera is letting Buelvas shove him around, moving back in straight lines, getting tagged by lefts and unsuccessfully reaching out to hold.

    10-9 Buelvas

    68-65 Herrera

    Round 8

Herrera is jabbing high and then slotting himself into the inside corner on Buelvas' right, hooking the body once there. Buelvas is shuffling back and tossing left uppercuts in his wake hoping to collide with Herrera's face. Buelvas is chopping with the left and following with right hooks on the backfoot. Herrera is diving through, many of the shots ricocheting off the side of his head as he jabs the body, many just whistling by overhead. Herrera lands a jab and ducks a Buelvas 1-2, taking it across the back of the neck. Buelvas down as they both punch and block in the pocket, slip.

    10-9 Herrera, close

    78-74 Herrera

If Fajardo Rodriguez2 is anything like the first then that match and this one might make up the sloppiest, ugliest, more awkward cards I've seen in quite a while.

Chihuas is all over the place in the last six months.

His FOTY candidate last August was a defense of his strawweight (105lb) title.

Rodriguez vs. Fajardo I ended up being at super flyweight (115lb) because Rodriguez failed to make fly. (though Fajardo did make it, and still gave him hell...)

Now the rematch is at flyweight (112lbs), and both of them came in 2lb shy of the limit at 110lbs apiece.

    Round 1

Rodriguez is stalking, pointing his knees outward and sprawling low, throwing head jabs. Fajardo is trotting left and coming in with high jabs buzzing around Rodriguez's hairline. Right hand by Rodriguez drives Fajardo back. Uppercuts on the body by Fajardo, landing heavily. High right hand by Rodriguez. Fajardo plugs a right downstairs, slams his left shoulder into Rodriguez and bumps him away, then flicks a double jab at him. Rodriguez is missing wide open left hooks as Fajardo hops out of the pocket. Fajardo jabs into Rodriguez's right arm to freeze it in place and brushes him with a right on the body.

    10-9 Fajardo, close

    Round 2

Rodriguez is sticking long jabs and leaving the left out straight as Fajardo javelins in head shots with both hands. Right hands by Rodriguez. Fajardo is pushing in close against Rodriguez and stuffing his left wrist into Rodriguez's core to push him off but Rodriguez is standing firm. Fajardo down, slip. Rodriguez keeps ducking low as Fajardo shoves into him. Body shots by Rodriguez, hurting Fajardo. Whipping rights behind the head by Rodriguez. Fajardo is flurried into the ropes. Fajardo jumps toward Rodriguez. Big flurry by Rodriguez, pushing Fajardo into the ropes again. Fajardo starts to fall and grabs onto Rodriguez, pulling him down with him. Point deducted from Fajardo.

    10-8 Rodriguez

    19-18 Rodriguez
