I know, it feels late (because it actually is late here on the east coast :yep) but it's only 9:10pm in Vegas...

 

Nah...they don't operate the same way Boxeo Telemundo does. They are more conventional; airing some live undercard (or at least one co-feature) before the main event.

In this case it'll be Magdaleno vs. Hidalgo any minute now and then Vargas vs. Narh probably around 1am our time. That is only 10pm local, though.

 

What is this crap? SOCCER coverage? ...not even live soccer, just douche bags sitting outside surrounded by fans chatting about soccer?

Jesse Magdaleno vs. Raul Hidalgo, 8 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

Round 1

Magdaleno is putting in the sharp right jab and southpaw 1-2 as Hidalgo trots around him. Hidalgo is looking to time Magdaleno with his left hook and pull him into a clinch. Magdaleno is too strong, bashing Hidalgo toward the ropes and opening up with rapid-fire combos. Hidalgo begins to wilt, reaching out to hold but unable to contain Magdaleno and wincing from each blow. Magdaleno reaches out and hooks past Hidalgo's pawed left jab, menacing him into the ropes.

A few more seconds and that would have been over in the 1st.

 

Round 2

Quick combo to the body, right hook and straight left by Magdaleno. Hidalgo circles away, then barrels in with a left hook trying to encircle Magdaleno in a clinch with the arm once it sails in. Magdaleno backs him off with the same combo up top, right hook and straight left. Hidalgo is backed into a corner and leaps in, scrabbling at Magdaleno. Hidalgo runs and sticks out a long jab but Magdaleno strikes with viper quickness and scores his southpaw 1-2 from a crouch, putting Hidalgo on a single wobbly leg backing up. Magdaleno advances. Hidalgo ties up. Left uppercut by Magdaleno. Right hook lead, thrown at half power to cut off Hidalgo's escape so Magdaleno can skewer him with lefts. Left hand, right hook by Magdaleno. Hidalgo swats with a left hook and nearly turns himself around sweeping the arm out to clinch or push down on Magdaleno's shoulders.

Round 3

Magdaleno is throwing lead lefts to the chest and face and following in with the right hook from the hip. Magdaleno is carrying the right arm low, putting up jabs coming forward and hitting the body as Hidalgo backs up and churns the waters with his left hook. Magdaleno rushes him, fast combos. Hidalgo is wobbly. A few more shots and down. He beats the count at eight but looks wrecked. He is given a chance. Right hook on the hip. Big left hand by Magdaleno. Hidalgo is shelling up and leaning into the ropes. Hidalgo holds and Vik Drakulich makes him let go. Fast body-head combo by Magdaleno. Hidalgo tries to hold and falls in the process.

KO3!

 

The main event is next...and I don't expect it should last much longer, if even as long as this did. :yep

We should all be in bed snug and warm by 1:30am EST...

 

They are interviewing Magdaleno - but in Spanish, obviously.

He did mix in a few English words so I can follow along in parts. Something about having a good camp. Something about location of his punches being on point. He seems happy with his performance - as he should - but it's time to step up.

Hidalgo was unwilling to say die and took quite a lumping before it was over, but Magdaleno is ready for sterner tests.
