    Round 1

García is smashing the shaggy-coifed noggin of Aguirre (think Roberto Durán's caveman look in "No Mas", complete with the facial hair) with nonstop right hands, sailing in from above, taking aim from outside while dancing effortlessly around the slower-footed Tijuana native. Very one-sided. Aguirre just shipping abuse. No guile, no ability to cut the ring off and get his own licks in. Tough guy, though. Soaking it up and continuing to step forward.

    10-9 García, almost 10-8

    Round 2

More of the same. García just teeing off. Aguirre is unable to pivot as rapidly as García can glide around him, get set, pop off a few clean punches, and move again to disappear from the strike zone, let alone does Aguirre have a prayer to get a counter in. His attempts just to square up and face García have Aguirre nearly tripping himself up. García raining leather on him from every angle, hardly breaking a sweat. Aguirre must have a steel plate in his skull or something (or García must have boneless jelly hands), barely even blinking.

    10-9 García

20-18 García, could easily be called 20-16 without any knockdowns being registered.

In the past four years, the combined record of guys Explosivo Herrera actually defeated is 1-0 (KO1ed someone in their debut and beat a sophomore by UD6), losing 4x in that span.

He interjected himself into the Ward-E-Rod match a little too much for my liking, almost like he was trying to scare Edwin off from going all out.

Okay, figured there would be a case or two in the annals of him doing an imperfect job, but that is probably true of every ref that works a lot, and visibly on high-profile TV cards. The sign of a good ref is having those nights be few & far between, and consistently being the kind you don't remember being much of a distraction. (or not having multiple big time bungles staining their name)

    Round 1

Félix is feeling out his opponent, dancing around, scoring with pot shot right hand leads on the body. Herrera is walking him down, but not getting much off, wheeling both arms in concentric patterns in front of his face but not letting his fists go. Félix able to comfortably get a sense of range, testing distance with light shots. Herrera waves at him with a few reach-in swatting rights.

    10-9 Félix

    Round 2

Félix is pounding the canvas in reverse, letting Herrera lunge and miss with telegraphed combos. Herrera comes up short with a long right hand and then hurtles in recklessly with a follow-up left hook, missing the face of Félix by several inches. Félix still keeping Herrera in check with the jab and placing straight rights on the belt line. Félix is cruise-control mode, letting Herrera create opportunities for him.

    10-9 Félix

    20-18 Félix

Jack usually does a fine job, with that exception, which annoyed the hell out of me, because it effected the entire flow of the match, Edwin was scared of having more points deducted which caused him to fight more cautiously and try to box, conveniently playing right into Ward's hands (for those who haven't seen it). Aside from that incident, nothing to complain about, except he's a little bit of a camera hog and I think fancies himself as a little bit of a character. Almost like he's trying beat Smoger for most affable ref award.

    Round 3

Félix is feinting with the right hand after stepping in and then baiting Herrera with a few long strides outside. Herrera comes rushing in past the light range-finding jab of Félix and runs smack into a hard right cross. Herrera goes down! Up quickly. Too quickly, perhaps, as Félix puts him on the ropes and immediately starts working him over. Hooks on the body and looping rights on the side of the neck. Herrera tries ducking in to grab Félix about the waist. He falls by the bottom rope, slip, not a knockdown. More clinching by Herrera. Félix slams him with a couple of rights on the esophagus and Herrera shies instinctively away, into the ropes. The ref intervenes, sensing that Herrera isn't defending himself.

    TKO3!!!
