Agree he looked crude but I'm wondering if that wasn't some combination of first-time jitters/fighting @ home in Houston/knowing he was on TV...

Just given the descriptions of his style (and his success over 6 years, particularly early on, taking quickly to it) in the amateurs.

    Round 1

Díaz is belting García with the looping right downstairs and then going to work on the other side. Alternating left uppercuts on the front of the stomach and hooks on the flank by Díaz. García is ducking and rolling in the pocket, attempting to catch Díaz's shots on his arms, caging them around his body while still winging his face with his gloves. Díaz is finding spots to land anyway. García flips up a few underhanded risers into Díaz's chest but isn't able to burst through his guard. Díaz is caught by a short machete right on the inside while landing a body combo.

    10-9 Díaz

Hopefully, Diaz is back in form. Imagine Diaz/Provodnikov. Man, what a war that would be.

Bull vs. Mechanic sounds fine to me...and makes a whole lot more sense than Alvarado vs. Thurman - or any other top 15 welter. :!:

Took a few too many clean shots, but other than that..... not bad.

I forgot that Mikhaylenko fougth at welterweight. Might be too big for Diaz. Provodnikov would be a better fight.

Despite having campaigned for a long time at 140lb, I think Provodnikov might actually be physically bigger than Mikhaylenko. :think

    Round 2

Díaz is onto something with that left uppercut in lieu of a jab to set up the rest of his offense. It creates openings for him by making a clean incision between García's arms, letting Díaz tee off with anything he wants - looping rights up top, left hooks around García's tucked elbow as he turns away. García is answering gamely but forced to concentrate on defending himself as Díaz is torrential with his output, and throwing hard stuff. García using some Mayweather-style elbow-thrusts in his attempts to hold Díaz off.

    10-9 Díaz

He came in at 148 lbs. against Bradley, and he weighed less than Matthysse when they fought. Provodnikov does look like someone who packs a lot of weight considering the size of his neck and head. Surprisingly, he's not that big.

    Round 3

Díaz is tenderizing García's body, hooking with both hands rapidly and without any cessation. García is getting no quarter as he seeks relief by sitting on the ropes and curling into a ball. Díaz nearly puts him on a knee but García bounces his butt off the ropes and proceeds to pass Díaz, albeit paying a toll as he is hit cleanly numerous times. More whirring uppercuts and hooks by Díaz. García not able to get set to get a single punch of his own in.

    10-9 Díaz

    30-27 Díaz
