Oh, I guess not possible then, at least this year. Regardless, Baby Bull is extremely inactive. Before this fight, he was fighting in 2014 then just stopped. :conf

Plus, I'm not sure if he's going to move down to 135 or not. The weights on Boxrec show it at 136 lbs.

135 lbs. might be better for Diaz. It's one of the worst divisions in boxing.

    Round 8

Time out. Wet spot on the canvas. Time in. García is trading jabs with Díaz, both landing on the gob and pushing each other back as they circle. Shoving match, Díaz putting García into range a few inches away to pepper the body with hooks and García attempting to get a little breathing room after smothering clinches fail. Lead right uppercut by García misses, as does his noodled & telegraphed hook stepping forward to follow-up. Díaz has slowed his volume now, and is leaning in taking breaks, though he is still outworking García with mostly body flurries.

    10-9 Díaz

    80-72 Díaz

Man, Garcia's corner is full of sadists. They should throw in the towel already. He's taking a vicious beating.

    Round 9

García is hurt and lain on the ropes with a big explosion of hooks from Díaz. He steps free and leans in on Díaz, but is shrugged off and blasted into a corner with right hands. Clinch. Díaz is muscling his way past García's left stiff-arm, then ignoring his looping right on the hip, putting in work and trying for the KO. García is unable to clinch as Díaz batters him furiously, working his fists like the blades of a blender. Díaz finally puts him down by the ropes. García is up but clipped a few more times and saved by Cole.

    TKO9!!

Finally. Should've been stopped earlier, though.

Poor Garcia what a terrible sequence of events, he gets knocked through the ropes and stopped, and then Cole gives him a loving face to face cradling hug.:yuck

Agreed. This was actually worse than what Jupp sustained at Berchelt's hands last week, IMO. More than double the length of that beating, and probably thrice as many clean punches landed per round.

It gets dangerous when either the guy dishing out the punishment is perceived as (or actually is) feather-fisted or the recipient has a solid chin and/or is too mentally tough for their own good. Much worse than just getting bombed out by a big puncher.

Man, Jose Ramirez needs to step it up soon too. Guy looks the goods, but he hasn't fought anyone yet.

...and we're definitely not getting any Esquiva Falcão now, with Torito dragging this on so late, as the first several minutes of Formula 1 have already been preempted. (and we all know the double standards in sports media, where other stuff can preempt live boxing and be a priority, but heaven forbid it be the other way around..)

    I give Díaz a B.

    Alvarado probably a C-, honestly.

Esquiva Falcão knocked out Joe McCreedy in the 5th.

McCreedy has been stopped twice before in 27 bouts. The last time was two years ago, by Seanie Monaghan, also in the 5th.
