Ivan Najera vs. Roger Rosa, 6 rounds @ lightweight

 

Round 1

Najera puts out quick jabs circling left. Quick 1-2 by Najera. Rosa down. Najera moves in on him, waving his left glove. Stiff jab by Najera. Rosa throws a wide hook and loses his footing. Rosa regains his balance but Najera is stepping in with blistering straight combos. Rosa leans forward and holds. Rosa is nailed with a hard axing right. His knee buckles and he nearly goes down again stepping out.

Round 2

Najera is moving his head as he walks forward, lifting his arms when needed to intercept Rosa's jabs and hooks. Rosa circles left, then straight back, then right and in diagonally to go for a hold. Najera slaps him back with a hook. Lead right by Rosa, ducking when Najera counters. Big left hook to the body by Najera, glancing. Right to the body cuffed in by Rosa, landing mostly with his wrist. Najera pressures, leaned over. Najera lands the right hand over Rosa's jab. Uppercut by Najera when Rosa ducks inside. Najera drops a right on Rosa and backs him up. Rosa seems hurt. Big left hook by Najera. Rosa wobbles. Moments remaining in the round. Najera explodes on Rosa as he slips punches on the ropes.

Round 3

Najera is walking through Rosa's jabs and forcing him to surrender ground with the left hook, or physically moving him with it. Rosa keeps flicking up jabs and then diving in to hold. Uppercuts to the body by Najera. Right hand and uppercut by Rosa, standing firm. Najera hooks him on the cheek and steps in, chopping down with a right. Big combo by Rosa, missing.

Round 4

Najera is overwhelming Rosa with jabs and sloppy windmilled rights. Rosa backs up and counters with left hooks and right uppercuts to head and body. Najera lands a flush hook and sends Rosa reeling but can't finish him off. Rosa keeps recovering quickly and firing back. Najera pushes Rosa into a corner and digs to the body with both hands. Rosa counters with head shots. Flurry by Rosa spinning Najera into the corner.

Round 5

Najera is sticking out the jab and then swinging the right around the side door. Rosa keeps circling, preserving his stance, very controlled, putting in defensive jabs and chipping away with hooks and rights on the inside when he circles by. Rosa switches to southpaw. Effective, jabbing with the right and circling in either direction. Back to orthodox. Body jabs by Rosa. Najera is caught by a right hand swiping with a telegraphed left hook. Rosa ducks back after connecting. Rosa is playing matador and moving around the ring, squatting to jab the body.

Round 6

Najera is jabbing and pushing Rosa back. Left hook flying in by Najera, missing as Rosa jerks away on the pivot. Najera jabs in and they get tied up. Rosa switches again to southpaw and sticks in the jab. Orthodox jabs now. Rosa is running circles around Najera, on his bike. Big overhand right by Najera, ducked. Rosa comes up with a counter hook. A little trading in the pocket. Rosa shoves Najera into the ropes and slaps him across the face with a short hook. Najera throws some wild haymakers with his back on the ropes. Najera slips and counters. Left hook by Rosa. Rabbit punch by Najera, reaching around behind him. Rosa lands a right hand over the top and then an uppercut.

Main event.

 

De Jesus is a year older but looks a decade.

 

Round 1

De Jesus is rocked by some big hooking combos to the body! Diaz is ripping him up fro the start. BIG HOOKS! De Jesus is on the ropes, left arm down, right glove up by his chin, letting his back drift along the middle rope as he slips punches but gets pounded. Diaz is throwing fast and hard in multiples downstairs. All hooks. 1-2 to the body by De Jesus, just above the belt line. BIG double hook by Diaz. Lead right and left hook by De Jesus, deflected by Diaz's forearms. Big double left hook by Diaz, from head down to body. De Jesus is smacked into a corner. De Jesus fights away from the ropes with the jab and right hand. De Jesus is pushed into another corner with a hard double jab. Diaz lunges in with a right cross but is brushed aside. Diaz takes a jab between the forearms and steps in with a jab. Hooks to the body and uppercuts traded on the inside. Diaz ducks a De Jesus right hand.

Round 2

De Jesus is forced to back up by several hard left hooks to the body. De Jesus seems to be about to drop to a knee as Diaz swarms him on the ropes but instead throws Diaz back with jabs and looping rights. Clinch. Diaz wrestles free and hooks the body. 1-2 up top by Diaz as De Jesus lays on the ropes. Left-right-left-right by Diaz, hard. De Jesus pushes an uppercut into Diaz's guard and then whips in a left hook, cast aside with a flick of Diaz's left glove. 1-2s and uppercuts by De Jesus on the inside. Diaz just keeps hooking. Overhand right by Diaz, hurting De Jesus. Clinch. Big left hook the body by Diaz.
