Round 5

Ramos is staying in close now, taunting Lorenzo with a sharp double jab to make him duck and then strapping him with left hands across the back. Left uppercut right hook combo to the face by Ramos. Lorenzo is looping lefts and rights in as hard as he can but not finding the head of Ramos, just the Everlast logo below his knuckles. Hard left hand lead to the face by Ramos. Lorenzo walks directly into a right jab that puts him back on his heels, but rolls back onto his toes and tries to clap Ramos in the head with either hand while teetering forward. Clinch. A series of hard right hooks to the head and body by Ramos, about half of them landing. The last one to the body landed especially loud as he was backing away to let Lorenzo off the ropes. Ramos punches very well backing up. Lorenzo is now crouching down and launching right hand missiles high into the air, and missing.

Round 6

Lorenzo leans directly into Ramos, digging his shoulder into his midsection and trying to scrap away with him inside. Ramos is still landing the better stuff with those hard left uppercuts. Lorenzo is at least landing now, though. Looping lefts and rights to the body and head. Ramos trades with him as they travel across the ring interlocked by an invisible inner tube. Ramos backs off and Lorenzo is atop him quickly, forcing a clinch and break. Lorenzo stalks and throws wild right hands, missing badly. Not straights, not overhands, not uppercuts...just crazy haymakers that kind of wobble off-path a bit. WHOA!! Big chopping left hook by Lorenzo as he walks Ramos to the ropes. Ramos stays on his bike for the rest of the round, playing keepaway as Lorenzo lunges after him and misses loads of wild power shots.

Lorenzo didn't quite steal the round IMO, but that left hook was massive! Ramos didn't see it coming (his attention on those wild rights), and was surprised and I think a bit hurt by it.

Round 7

Hard right hooks by Ramos as he backs up, with Lorenzo muscling his way through and eating leather to get close and inflict his own punishment. Ramos is landing the much harder, cleaner and more plentiful shots but Lorenzo is getting to him a little with his awkward sometimes-crouching advance and unpredictable haymakers. Ramos jabs him in the face while turned sideways and then brings his left around as he quickly squares up, putting maximum torque into the shot as he nails Lorenzo with it. Lorenzo is hopping in and smacking him with right hands, clinching, and tapping the body. Shoeshine insideby Lorenzo. Right hand over the top, then a glancing left hook and one more right hand as they trade. Ramos was just flashing his hands out in front of his face, mainly defensively. All Lorenzo's traffic was diverted around the sides, but he won that exchange...and doggone it, the round.

Round 8 - Ultimo round!

HARD left cross by Ramos. ANOTHER! Lorenzo HURT! Ramos means business all of a sudden. He keeps pumping the right jab and left cross. Lorenzo stands firm, and hurls his own slicing underhand shots right back at him! BRAWL! Now it deteriorates a bit, getting ugly. Clinching. Broken up. Ramos circles out and jabs. Lorenzo chases, digs a right to the body while crouching in. He jerks his head up as he's straightening right up against Ramos, and bangs it into Ramos' jaw. That looked like almost an intentional butt, but hard to say for sure. Lorenzo is crouching and windmilling. Ramos is just trying his best to pick him off with jabs but finds him curling up into a ball on the outside and then exploding forth with those crazy whacks. Lorenzo is landing hooks! Overhand right! Ramos backs up and jabs. Hard right counter hook by Ramos! clinch. Lorenzo crouches under a jab and works the body with both hands. Clinch. Ramos backs off and lands a 1-2 to the face, which Lorenzo ignores while whipping several shots to the body. Clinch. Break. Trench warfare in the last ten seconds. Both land body shots. Lorenzo lands two BIG overhand rights to the jaw, backing Ramos up!!

Round 1

Lopez wastes no time, getting right down to business with hard right and left hooks to claim the middle of the ring. Santa Cruz gets his arms up and sticks his elbows out to flank him, letting most of Carita's bombs bounce away harmlessly. Vicious exchange, and Santa Cruz has Lopez hurt with a right hand! They now stand in close and trade body punches. Lopez goes back upstairs, missing with a 1-2. Santa Cruz pushes into him, getting his right arm trapped but banging away with his left. Lopez tosses another 1-2 into the gloves. Santa Cruz backs up and lands a smooth combo: right uppercut, left hook, another right uppercut. Lopez drops a right hand to the body of the taller opponent. Santa Cruz flurries while backing up, then stops on a dime and starts to gallop into Lopez with his hands flashing, backing him up.
