Round 1

Sandoval is a bit more aggressive, throwing lots of right hooks to the torso and putting some uppercuts behind them. Torres just chops with very wide right hands. Sandoval is much better technically, FWIW. Several jabs to the face by Sandoval. Torres tries to put his jab out to stuff into Sandoval's face and hold him off but just gets ripped to the body while doing so. Sandoval stays outside and deflects a jab from Torres. Sandoval counters some overhand rights and slow, low left hooks with clubbing shots of his own across the back and top of the head. Torres clinches.

If this was two guys of Sandoval's skill level it could actually be pretty fun. I actually don't mind seeing these guys who are obviously not going to amount to anything close to world level - as long as it's a somewhat evenly matched affair.

This Torres kid just looks awful so far. Like, he shouldn't have ever turned pro.

 

Round 2

Sandoval hurts him with a right hand and Torres clinches. Again. Referee warns for head clashes. Sandoval comes in with right uppercuts to the body, and left hooks to the face. Torres is hurt and wilts backward, into the ropes. He has Sandoval's left arm caught, but Sandoval keeps banging with the right. The left wriggles free and Torres is hooked in the face again and slumps down to a knee by the ropes. The referee rules that he is cut by a punch. Sandoval brutally flurries on him as Torres bends forward and tries to ram his way headfirst into a clinch. Break. Sandoval pecks at him as Torres again steps forward to clinch. Torres winds up pitching himself right past Sandoval trying to grab him, and is cuffed hard across the back of the head and goes down again to his hands and knees. He stays there, huffing and puffing with his eyes wide - and is waved off.

Solo Boxeo has expanded to a two hour format now. (it's actually technically two separate shows; Solo Boxeo from 11:30pm-1am, and then "Solo Boxeo Extra" from 1 to 1:30...but the latter is just a continuation of the same card, usually the third highest-billed match).

We are almost definitely seeing Caballero next.

Round 1

Caballero jabs to the body. Cristobal ducks a left hook, showing some good reflexes. Caballero steps away from an attempted body jab by Cristobal. Caballero ducks inside as Cristobal flurries, taking it across his back. Not much getting through clean either way yet. Jab to the body by Caballero. Cristobal ducks into the line of fire and takes a HARD RIGHT HAND BY CABALLERO!!! CRISTOBAL DOWN! Cristobal had no idea wtf was going on for a split second there, but is up and ready to go pretty quickly. Cristobal throws hard, backing Caballero up with underhand rights to the body and left hooks up high. Caballero backs up, shimmying his shoulders, and lets Cristobal expend energy hurling misses. Caballero backs up to the ropes, and rope-a-dopes Cristobal a bit. Caballero starts to try and assert himself again with his jab when Cristobal seems to slow down a bit, but Cristobal hits him with a sneaky uppercut and keeps punching away at him nonstop.

Round 2

Cristobal surges forward, throwing hard lefts and rights to the body. Now he brings the swarm up and centers it on Caballero's head. Wow. Caballero getting bullied into a corner a bit here. Hard hooking right hands to the ribs and face by Caballero. Much better than any of Cristobal's shots, but the man with the bad haircut is just a blur of activity. Caballero stands in, leaning against him and ripping hard left hooks. Cristobal turns his gloves in and alternates uppercuts into Caballero's chin, but they don't seem to have much effect. Caballero answers with his own hard right uppercut after Cristobal slaps him ineffectively with a forearm to the body. Cristobal is just whipping his arms out low to deter Caballero now. Cristobal's uppercuts are getting blocked and countered with much harder uppercuts from Caballero. HARD right hook off a right uppercut by Caballero in the pocket!

Round 3

Cristobal sweeps the ring, moving laterally in either direction to try and cut off Caballero while jabbing and throwing low right uppercuts that cut a swath in front of him. Caballero seems annoyed by this, and steps inside to pop off combos of 2-3 straight shots at a time. Cristobal aims a right uppercut under the gloves and gets it to connect on Caballero's chin, but pays for it when he takes a big straight right hand to the face while his arm is stretched out. They are slugging away inside now, and the crowd is loving it. Cristobal is landing some big stuff! Caballero seems uncomfortable. Right uppercut and left hook by Cristobal! He keeps throwing...and landing! Caballero is just standing there, trying to roll with shots, and answer back.
