Juan Kantun vs. David Sanchez, 8 rounds @ super flyweight

 

This is a crazy little war.

 

The first two rounds were crazy and nigh impossible to score. Both just winging hard punches and often nearly falling over.

Kantun had most of round 3 in the bag mixing in jabs and body shots to his repertoire, but Sanchez poured it on in the last 45 seconds or so and hurt Kantun (and probably stole it on the judges' cards)

 

Halfway in now. What a skirmish.

 

Kantun dropped by an uppercut early in the 5th but it's ruled a slip!

Nice right hands by Sanchez, circling on the outside. Kantun drops his arms to his sides and beckons him in with his chin jutting out, COME ON!

Hooks in the pocket. Sanchez gets back outside. Kantun chases with 1-2s. Jabs by Sanchez before leaning in to prop up against Kantun. Lots of light touches by Kantun, high volume arm punches. Kantun ducks a right hand but leaves his entire flank stretched out for Sanchez to saw with a left hook. Wild shots, both missing. Kantun is the aggressor. Counter uppercut by Sanchez.

Fantastic stuff.

 

Sanchez is blasting away in the seventh, in hot pursuit. 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2. Damn. Kantun begins ducking and rolling, very slowly as though underwater, with big hooks and overhands when he comes up for air. They aren't scoring but are keeping Sanchez off him for a while.

BIG TRIPLE CLUBBING RIGHT BY SANCHEZ. KANTUN HURT! LEFT RIP DOWNSTAIRS BY SANCHEZ. KANTUN IS BATTERED INTO THE ROPES, FIGHTING BACK YET OUTGUNNED...WAVED OFF!!

Yeah I only wish I hadn't been able to get out ahead of it and give it the proper RBR scoring treatment. As it was there were too many distractions in my domicile to give the first couple of rounds the strictest of attention.

 

The girl on Jimmy Lennon's right is slightly more of a dime piece than she on his left.

I take it back. The girl on Jimmy's left could puke her guts out in front of me and still get an enthusiastic "yes" if she asked to make out with me directly afterward.
