    Round 4

Pena has Tecuapetla hurt again with a left hook and presses the advantage. Pena swarms him with jabs and chops, and hooks into either side of his body. Tecuapetla is pushed to the ropes and forced to flurry lightly on the backfoot, hurried and without ever getting himself set. Loose jab by Tecuapetla, rolling up by Pena's neck. The right hand of Tecuapetla likewise coasts past the other side, barely touching. Pena is gassed but still moving forward. Tecuapetla taps him on the body lightly from outside, leaning forward. Pena runs Tecuapetla into the ropes with a stiff jab to the face and then swings down at him with the right. Tecuapetla spins out and hooks.

    10-9 Pena

    38-37 Pena

    Round 5

Tecuapetla is jabbing and trotting away, crumpling his body like an accordion with his buttocks sticking out as he goes and then straightening as he pulls his feet back. Pena follows him around the ring and hooks with all his might with both hands when he gets close. Tecuapetla stays low and off the ropes, not letting Pena gain much of a head of steam. They jab from outside, advantage Tecuapetla. Lunging jab by Pena, both shoes coming up off the canvas, missing.

    10-9 Tecuapetla

    47-47

    Round 6

Tecuapetla is using square-dance footwork, predictable but smooth. Nice left hook on the jaw reaching in by Tecuapetla. Jabs to the body by Tecuapetla. Pena tries timing him with a hook as Tecuapetla reaches in to jab high but at the last second Tecuapetla switches and drops low to land a right on the body, then reels himself out. Jab on the belt by Tecuapetla, turning Pena more quickly than he can rotate to keep up. Tecuapetla DROPS PENA WITH A SUDDEN HOOK. They trade hooks at the bell, Pena getting pushed back.

    10-8 Tecuapetla

    57-55 Tecuapetla

Another one that can't be called a showcase, just two guys with ugly records going at it.

Pena came in 1-3; "Diablo" Tecuapetla 10-5-1.

Why isn't Lupe reading the scorecards? :huh

For each match he is just announcing the result. Lazy *******. He should have part of his purse withheld.

Fuentes has a big following. Decent sized venue just roared for him during the intros.

    Round 1

Fuentes is putting out the jab and then letting a mousetrap uppercut go when De la Rosa dives in past the jab. BIG LEFT HOOK by Fuentes as De la Rosa came in with a hook thrown with too much open space leaving his chin unprotected. De la Rosa tries recovering by circling out and hooking, but Fuentes is nailing him repeatedly with hard lefts and rights. De la Rosa is wobbling all over the place, lurching in to grab Fuentes. He is shaken off and bombarded some more. The entire audience is on its feet reaching a fever pitch as De la Rosa is finally dropped through the ropes. He beats the count and insists he is up for more. Fuentes batters him, full power, fast shots raining down. De la Rosa can't get a punch in edgewise. De la Rosa falters and falls again.

    KO1!

:wall My plan all week had been to do a Maciel vs. Falliga RBR, figuring it would be starting not long after Showtime (with Arreola vs. Mitchell inevitably due to end on the early side :yep)

Then I saw my DVR light up red and impulsively thought "Oh yeah! Solo Boxeo...hmm. Fuentes vs. De la Rosa? Yeah that's vaguely interesting...let me get sucked into that..."

Had I realized it would mean sitting through a pair of back alley brawls involving nobodies who likely will never again be televised, only for one round of prerecorded action...yeah. I would have proceeded with my plan.

It was a good plan. :!:

In my defense, this was actually for a world title belt (albeit interim) whereas Maciel was defending his lesser WBO Latino belt...

Where is Boxed Ears? I'm loopy on cold medicine and one cerveza and want to argue over whether Fuentes can be considered a 2-division champion...

Fuentes was robbed against Nietes so 2-division champion seems fair ;)
