Luna is bending in and keeping his face buried at Rodríguez's belt line, throwing shoeshines overhead at the chest. Rodríguez is sliding outside and drilling with the left jab. Luna is ducking, sidestepping, and putting on earmuffs as he navigates by Rodríguez, keeping a wary eye on the jabbing hand. Rodríguez is throwing long rights at the midsection after backing Luna up with a jab. Luna now comes forward, stalking, with Rodríguez dancing side to side and eluding him playfully for a moment. Rodríguez finally stands in and digs a left on the side. Arm punches on the inside by Luna, mostly grappling, making oblique contact with a few incidental rabbit punches.

Round 5

Rodríguez catches Luna with a two-piece up top and shreds the body once he senses frailty. Luna keeps seeming hurt but recovering and fighting back. Rodríguez is throwing nasty double and triple left upper-hooks on the body and finishing with an exclamation point on the side of the jaw. Right uppercuts swooping in by Rodríguez. Luna is tying up on the inside and trying to settle the contest down on the outside, pumping a jab. Double jab and bowling-ball right downstairs by Luna. HARD left hook on the waistband by Rodríguez, darting in and then out as soon as he lands.

Round 6

Rodríguez is jabbing and stepping out to preserve space to work. Luna crowds in, flailing his arms over Rodríguez's shoulders, dragging him into the ropes and pelting him with light punches up and down his sides. Rodríguez squirms loose and stomps away from Luna, ambushing him with the 1-2 up top and long body hooks. Luna inevitably gets close and smothers again. Rodríguez is wasting some energy pushing off and extricating himself from under Luna.

Round 7

Beautiful combinations by Rodríguez, doubling up on left hooks below the guard and then zinging in a third up top and blasting Luna with a right hand a split-second behind it. Rodríguez is banging the body hard with the right hand. Rodríguez looking to score a body shot KO. Luna's just too damn tough, all over. Luna is pressing in, looking to grind his arms into Rodríguez's face and force him to curl up and submit to a clinch. Instead, Rodríguez draws back and knocks Luna's gum shield out with a right and keeps hammering. Luna hurt. Pause. Gum shield in. Luna is swatting back at Rodríguez with light hooks even as Rodríguez batters him into the ropes.

Round 8

Rodríguez is prodding into Luna's sternum with his jab and then paddling at his sides with rowboat oars in light, swift motions. Rodríguez steps halfway in, pauses, sets himself, bends his knees, and springs in snakelike with a 1-2, ducking away before Luna can line up a counter. Luna is defending, arms up over his face, occasionally reaching with the jab but pulling it straight back, leaving no gap to hit through. Both taking no unnecessary chances in the eight, as they are tired enough that both of their defenses are falling apart slightly anyway. Rodríguez walks into a chopping 1-2 while sweeping low with a left hook. Wild right at the body missed by Rodríguez. Long flurry high and low by Rodríguez, most of it blocked.
