Solo Boxeo Tecate: Alan Sanchez vs. Manuel Leyva RBR

Round 3

Sanchez is sticking his jab out from across the Tecate logo, moving swiftly to either side as Leyva looks to nail him with an overhand left while cocking them below chest level but above his hip. Jabs and rights by Sanchez reaching in, then jerking back and tucking his chin as Leyva unloads counters. Sanchezis giving Leyva lots of respect, not pressing the attack. Leyva comes in with a cuffing right hook and is stunned and backed up as Sanchez flurries his way off the ropes, connecting with a particularly vicious uppercut that puts a little kink in Leyva's legs. Right jab poked in to the body by Leyva from outside.

Round 4

HARD lead rights by Sanchez, coiling up with a deep bend of his long legs and then springing forward with the punch extended straight and fast toward Leyva's face. Very clean connections for Sanchez with that rocket right hand. Leyva is a bit taken aback, but doesn't lose his cool. Still circling and trying to slap Sanchez behind the ear with high reaching right hooks and then put in lefts to the body. They touch gloves after an accidental clash. Lots of mutual respect here. Leyva ducks back out of the way of a lead right that misses an inch from his nose. Sanchez is looking for more of those springing lead rights but Leyva has them scouted, and is floating off to the side when he sees Sanchez loading up. Leyva uses a lot of shoulder twitches, whether indecisive about what and whether to throw or intentionally employing feints, he's having the effect of making Sanchez nervous to throw first.

Round 5

Sanchez starts to lead with the right to the body and manages to pin Leyva on the ropes, seeming to hurt him more than ever. The crowd is on its feet and whistling. Leyva hops around to his right, waving his guard around. Sanchez dives in with a right to the body and gets cuffed across the head with a Leyva right hook. Sanchez takes a right jab across the forehead while leaning forward to ding Leyva with a left hook to the body. Hard combo to the head by Sanchez, reaching in from arm's length away as Leyva ducks and rolls with his gloves over his eyes. Hard left uppercut to the body by Leyva trying to put Sanchez in a corner, but he timidly backs out as the young prospect comes on strong with the left jab again. FLUSH right hand lead by Sanchez. Leyva tosses a left to get off the ropes. A fight is heating up!!

Round 6

Leyva circles away, ducking under the straight shots of Sanchez. BIG SURPRISE LEFT UPPERCUT BY LEYVA, KNOCKING THE WIND OUT OF SANCHEZ!! LEYVA HAS SANCHEZ HURT, RUNNING TO THE ROPES!! Leyva pours it on him with lefts to the body and right hooks clubbing against his head!! Sanchez weathers it, then comes back!! Right hands drive Leyva now across the ring!! Left hooks to the upper back by Sanchez. Leyva now has to stand firm. Right hand lead by Sanchez, blocked as Leyva pins his arms together and thrusts them out to intercept while stepping to the side. Leyva drives Sanchez back with his right hand held out in a threatening posture without actually snapping the jab out. Leyva is looking for one more big left hand, but runs out of time.

42% stoppage rate be damned, this guy is freaking DANGEROUS. High ring IQ and heavy enough hands to hurt you, after his patience lets him find you.

 

Round 7

Leyva jumps in, left hand!! Trying to surprise Sanchez again!! Leyva aggressive, hooking with the right. Sanchez turns the tables on him!! Big right hands and left hooks by Sanchez!! Leyva staggers!! Sanchez turns his head with big shots!! Leyva tries to throw with him, but is getting clocked!! Leyva DOWN!! He beats the count but Sanchez is on him, blasting him in the face with hard straight rights and slamming in with left hooks!! Leyva is game, but his face is getting shredded by Sanchez's fists!

This will most likely wind up being a cuts TKO, it seems.

Assuming Leyva keeps his feet...and doesn't produce a miracle comeback KO...

 

Round 8

Left hook by Sanchez, ducked by Leyva. An accidental low blow by Leyva fishing for body shots, and they touch gloves respectfully from outside with their jab hands. Leyva keeps going to the body from outside. Sanchez tries some skull splitters, left hooks and straight lunging rights. Leyva is shifting his weight from foot to foot, not moving around much, letting Sanchez come to him. Leyva tries to time a counter right jab, but Sanchez ZAPS him with an incredibly hard right hand lead springing forward. Leyva's entire frame convulses and his jaw quivers but he stays up. HARD shots by Sanchez. Uppercut. Leyva ducks under a right hand/left hook combo to block and slip it.

Round 9

Lead right by Sanchez, caught on the mitt as Leyva waves it out. HARD left hooks to the chin by Sanchez, sending sweat flying off Leyva's face and forcing his mouth to drop open. BRUTAL punches. Leyva is showing insane punch resistance to have only gone down once. Big assault by Sanchez, putting Leyva on the ropes. Left hooks and overhand rights, several landing and further bruising up the already puffy cheeks and eye sockets of Leyva. Bravely, Leyva fires quick right jabs back at Sanchez, not letting him have thi easy and refusing to avoid the fight. HARD RIGHT HAND LEAD by Sanchez, rocking Leyva badly but not dropping him as he drifts backward into the ropes. The referee is having a VERY close look at Leyva but out of respect seems to be giving him a chance to ride it out. Leyva goes to the body!! Exhausted, leaning into Sanchez, plugging away!! HARD RIGHT BY SANCHEZ!!

Round 10

Lead right by Sanchez. Leyva stumbles back into the ropes. Leyva ducks and gets hit with a left hook, right hand, another right, left hook!! Leyva's balance is completely shot! The ref jumps in to stop it, but Leyva fires a body shot to stave Sanchez off!! The ref wants so badly to save Leyva from himself, lurching in to wave it off and changing his mind at the last second several times. Every time Sanchez starts bombing away on him and inviting the stoppage, Leyva answers back with a right hook to the temple or a pair of body shots. Less than a minute left. BIG UPPERCUT BY SANCHEZ!! LEYVA FALLS BACK, THROUGH THE RING ROPES!! THE REF WAVES IT OFF!
