Shumenovs style is very amateurish. You can almost picture him in headgear and a tanktop as he throws punches. He has no real technique, he just throws points scoring blows.

 I can't get enough going on a tangent on that little ****er. Excuse me, that little passed-out-15-year-old gang-******. I meant. I'm all about accuracy tonight.

    Round 4

Shumenov throws a hard right to the body. Santiago pumps his fists and draw Shumenov into a brief firefight. Shumenov lands better, and with more attention paid to the body. Now Shumenov headhunts, and connects with big overhand rights over the top of Santiago's wider and slower shots. Shumenov is now the aggressor. Santiago puts his head down and has it trapped under Shumenov's arm. Jab to the body by Shumenov. Santiago tries to open up but is flurried down into submission, bending forward and trying to grab. Wild left hook by Santiago misses as Shumenov pegs him with the jab. Santiago looks unsure of what to do now. He tries circling in close, and gets picked off with jabs despite trying to block. Shumenov circles wide and lays in wait for Santiago, bending his lead knee and throwing a stiff jab at the oncoming New Yorker.

    40-36 Shumenov

Usually his work rate and willingness to go to war is much higher than this. Strip those qualities away and yeah...Shumenov's cupboard looks pretty bare. So-so power and speed for LHW, I guess...

    Round 5

Shumenov is throwing some hard combos now, and barking out with them. Shumenov is hanging and crossing his arms together in front of his crotch. Nasty sharing of leather when Shumenov steps inside and both land. Shumenov is landing much harder. Hooks are rocking Santiago physically over to the side but not seeming to have an impact on him. Shumenov actually has a good deal of bruising on his face from Santiago's jabs and the few rights he's getting through. Shumenov dances around for most of the end of the round, tentative.

    50-45 Shumenov

Wasn't paying close enough attention... what caused the damage to Shumenov's left cheekbone?

Legal blows. For a guy who spent the early rounds boxing very daintily and not wanting to break a nail, he's sure been taking some dumb shots over the last couple.

I'm usually not so blunt about a boxers skills, but I honestly think Shumenov is one of the worst fighters with a belt around his waist. I think he takes a horrific beating from guys like Cloud, Johnson, Dawson, Hopkins...I've seen the majority of his fights and I think he gets too much credit because a handful of the names on his record are recognizable.

I thought he lost both of his fights to Campillo. The second fight was a robbery.
