Shumenov keeps moving, one foot in the air at all times. Santiago pressure but isn't throwing much. Shumenov is pitching himself forward and countering hard every time Santiago telegraphs. Santiago is crowding him, though. Shumenov is using the full ring to get away. Santiago is gaining confidence and almost skipping after him. Santiago not throwing anywhere near enough to take the rounds and his connect rate is low besides, but he's having a bit of a mental effect on Shumenov it seems.

He isn't a great titleholder, but he isn't the worst as long as K9 Bundrage has one. :yep

 

Round 7

Santiago is throwing wide hooks coming forward. Shumenov is countering and nearly getting caught in exchanges as Santiago tries to steamroll through the counters. BIG CUFFING LEFT HOOK TO THE TEMPLE BY SANTIAGO! Shumenov wobbled badly; his equilibrium was affected by that. Santiago stands in the middle of the ring and beckons Shumenov on, acting macho. Big right hand by Santiago. Shumenov gets even more cautious until Santiago bears down on him, forcing a desperation right hand. Lands well. Flurries by Shumenov. Good action. Santiago is enjoying the violence. He nods his approval and then whacks Shumenov before a clinch. Shumenov throws out a lazy hook while drifting in a circle around Santiago, and is caught with a hook coming back. Again it distorts his balance. Shumenov looks eager for this round to be over. Pawing jabs.

Round 8

Santiago comes forward, arms bunched up tightly as he keeps his eyes on the prize. The prize suddenly jumps forward and drills a right hand between his eyes. Shumenov then gets back into his outside boxing pattern, not throwing a lot and actually hitting mostly elbows now. Shumenov can't find a clean body shot to save his life right now. Santiago isn't even warding them off that diligently. They just happen to be catching elbow. Poor aim by Shumenov from the outside, throwing while moving. Santiago has his mouthpiece dangling from his lips for a second before slurping it back in. He's tired but still applying pressure. Big right hand misses by Santiago. Shumenov flurries at him while stepping away. Santiago loads up on a big powerful but telegraphed 1-2 and gets gripped tightly by Shumenov, who yanks him back against the ropes.
