Thats a little wide. I thought 57-57 or 58-56 Mendez.

    Yeah.

I feel if Mendez was more inclined to fight (not necessarily stand and trade or surrender his height advantage, but just throw some punches) this would have been very winnable for him. Parison was incredibly wild offensively to get so many in. A good educated jab would have kept him from being able to get up close and cause havoc. Mendez seemed to mostly just want to let the ref bail him out instead.

Obviously Mendez doesn't have that mentality to work in there unless cornered and forced to, or to take chances to try and win. That's why he is now 6-2 while Parison improves to 15-1. Of course, Parison won't go very far with that style and little power. I'd say he should be easy to stop for anybody close to world class, but he somehow made it eight rounds with Craig McEwan. :think

    Main event.

Both "champion" (Perez is making the 4th defense of his WBO NABO junior lightweight title) and challenger look supremely confident. :bbb

    Round 1

Quick jabs to the body by Perez straight away. Now Perez moves in and stuffs the jab a bit more forcefully into the belt line by darting forward and stretching his upper body across. Jimenez hooks out at him, trying to catch him at or near the midpoint of the round trip. Perez keeps slipping in past the probing hooks and landing whip-around right hands behind his jab. Sharp right to the body and a blazing fast follow-up right to the head as Jimenez ducks. JIMENEZ GOES DOWN! Perez hops in place and runs full-sprint to his neutral corner, completely brimming with adrenaline. Jimenez gets up shaking his head and smirking but wobbly. Perez keeps flashing his hand speed, landing jabs and those whipping overhand rights. Perez flurries at the tip of his head and backs Jimenez to the ropes, continuing to hail down on him as he bounces off. Jimenez down AGAIN. Once more he grins and shakes his head no. His body language says yes. Perez hurt him both times.

    Round 2

Jimenez is trying to be first now, taking precautionary measures with a wide lead hook followed by a more direct right hand. Perez circles him and throws his own fast hooks and high piercing jabs while darting in and out with Jimenez's gloves just ricocheting off his shoulders. Jimenez palm-blocks a few Perez jabs and drifts into the ropes. Jimenez crouches, and Perez catches him on bent knees with a PERFECT LEFT HOOK!!

    KTFO!!!!!!!!!!!

    That was ****ing sexy.

It had as much to do with Jimenez being in the worst possible position to take it, but the punch itself was an absolute thing of beauty.

I agree with your statement. You have more seniority with RBR coverage and scoring a fight then me. Just started one on facebook 2 months ago and I am getting confused at times. Just reached 1,000 likes (1,012) :happy

It's crazy that this was only the 6th knockout for Perez - in his 25th pro bout.

He clearly isn't feather-fisted. I think he usually just places more emphasis on his jab and hand speed than really sitting down on anything and trying to take guys out.

Speaking of his hand speed, the Prince is operating way under the radar but might be on his way to finally getting some recognition. In fact, it seems inevitable. There aren't many people in the sport faster than him. Gamboa, Russell, maybe a few others. Short list.

It's all good, man - stand by your scorecard. :yep :good As you said, a few of those rounds were really close. In something as short as a six rounder where there isn't crystal clarity in each round you can easily wind up with some divergence in scoring. (as happened with the judges)
