    Round 1

Gumina ducks a Johnson jab and immediately hooks the body. Aggressive starts from Gumina, burrowing his way into Johnson's chest! Too aggressive! Johnson lands a nice uppercut as Gumina is swooping in on one of his low charges. A few more nice counters from Johnson before he starts to bounce backward and walk the perimeter. Gumina throws hard sandbags around the side and hits the shell of Johnson. Good counter 1-2 to the body by Johnson, who is staying tall and making defense his first priority. Gumina keeps trying to crack the shell, only getting a couple of uppercuts through it but clearly affecting Johnson with them. Nice 1-2 by Johnson from outside again, backing Gumina up. Gumina rushes him once more and Johnson hits him on the chest with an uppercut. Gumina starts throwing his power around recklessly and makes Johnson again look uncomfortable as he is tagged with an uppercut from beneath his gloves, hunching his shoulders up and wincing.

10-9 Johnson but he could get knocked out by the inferior boxer here if he doesn't make some adjustments..

    Round 2

Johnson jabs and circles to his left. Gumina comes bashing his way in but walks into a counter uppercut. Johnson now unloads a bit, throwing straight power punches but hitting the spine and biceps of Gumina as the shorter man fish-flops. Now Gumina backs Johnson up with some of his wilder brand of power attack, tripling up an awfully telegraphed looping right and somehow making at least glancing contact with it each time (if only just brushing Johnson's chest). Gumina chases Johnson into a corner and gets clocked again with a good right uppercut. Gumina ducks down and barrels his way inside, bumping Johnson to the ropes and throwing a chaotic spray of uppercuts as Johnson somehow threads his way through the middle and top rope.

    20-18 Johnson

    Round 3

Johnson keeps moving, training his 1-2 on the bald head of Gumina. Johnson starts out with his hands high every time he finishes a combo, but after a couple of steps lets them drift down and hover a bit...and as a result there is a clear path for Gumina's own jabs and wild uppercuts. Johnson presses Gumina into a corner and they trade bombs. Both mean eating uppercuts at close range. HUGE OVERHAND RIGHT by Gumina, taken hard across the back/top of the head of Johnson. 1-2 by Johnson is blocked. Gumina falls in, flopping against Johnson and throwing an uppercut at the last second to get sandwiched between them. Johnson spins Gumina into the ropes and hammers away at him but Gumina jumps out, buying his freedom with another wild uppercut.

Yep. Also do you know if Telefutura will show this young fighter Roman Morales? ( 6-0-0 )? He seems to be a young talented fighter and I know he is on this card.

This guy has a youtube with a few of his fights - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwqH_Mgy8vw[/ame] -

    Good account there, too.

For the Perez fight, I honestly think you take your four paragraphs and maybe give it more of an opening and closing sentence, and you got yourself a ready-made article right off of your outstanding round-by-round details and observations.

All the uppercuts and hooks are always really wide with some guys like this. It kinda tells you he likely isn't nothing too special

    Round 4

Gumina comes tackling in, head down and arms working overhead. Johnson is now making noises approximating "HNH HNH!" every time he throws what are now very much arm punches, combining something vaguely like uppercuts with overhand lefts. Gumina keeps pushing him around the ring and trying to land uppercuts but is showing signs of muscle fatigue himself. Both are landing pretty much at their leisure but are unable to keep throwing for more than a second or two at a time and they certainly don't have any snap behind anything even though it's all power punches. The referee frequently has to call for a break as Johnson inadvertently pushes down on Gumina's head as Gumina inadvertently collapses against him with his face at crotch level. BIG right hand by Johnson before the bell.

    39-37 Johnson

    Official judges:

    39-37
    39-37
    38-38

winner by majority decision: Tony Johnson

These are both Cali fighters, so the crowd would probably have been happy either way. They definitely got their money's worth tonight, between that and the memorable knockout in the main event.

This is a mismatch. They need to stop this fight. Short and stubby can't win.

Puga has pop. He is rocking Talamontes with every clipping hook he lands from arm's length.

Talamontes' face is smeared with his own blood by halfway through the round.

Now Puga starts to land his 1-2. Hook behind it. Talamontes is in trouble and knows it. He runs. It's all Puga. Now Talamontes pumps his fist in the air and gives the crowd a lopsided smile. He's clearly going to consider it a moral victory to get out of the first round. Puga is his own worst enemy, too slow with his 1-2 but insistent on throwing it as his primary weapon instead of trying the jab by itself and letting Talamontes run all over the place. Another hook gets through. Talamontes bleeding out like a pig.

Talamontes got his moral victory. :conf

    Round 3

Puga is hurting Talamontes with his jab - which he is now throwing by itself to set up his offense. More patient approach from Puga now. Hooking off the jab. There's the right hand he'd been looking for, knocking an almost-cornered Talamontes squarely back into the ropes. Talamontes tries to hold but gets tapped on the sides while the ref yells at him to let go. Talamontes can't have anything his way. He is pushes back outside and hit with more jabs. Now a jab & uppercut combo. Talamontes runs to the ropes, and is there cleaved by a hard right hand from Puga. Talamontes spoils, throwing feel-out jabs with his much shorter reach and getting tagged before shuffling off to the side while Puga generates wind in his wake.

Talamontes is losing blood by the pint through his nostrils.
