    Round 9

Maldonado is giving Morales no quarter. Big, ever sloppier, looping shots to the body keep Morales sliding his feet into reverse, carefully placing each foot to keep his balance and not leave himself vulnerable to one of the less frequent looping head shots. Morales is getting tired from eluding Maldonado, but the veteran is also growing arm weary from his relentless assault. Morales fires a 1-2 and falls into a brief clinch. Morales circles right and pops a jab, then ducks some wide Maldonado shots. A few digs to the body by Maldonado. Morales throws a combo, mostly uppercuts, as Maldonado lifts his arms up and bangs him on the chin, never ceasing to punch.

Best round for Morales in some time, but 10-9 Maldonado

    88-83 Maldonado

Hey, Magic Matt makes do with what little he's got, I can't hate.

It does seem that Ivan is cut from that same cloth. Plucky and willing to try, but just hasn't got "it'.

    Round 10

Maldonado leads with a big left hand to the mouth that sends a big gob of something white flying from Morales' lips. Was that spittle or his gum shield? If spittle, it was a lot. Morales lands a rug-shaking combo down on Maldonado's face but is getting backed up to the ropes by body shots. Maldonado tries to swing his full weight into a looping left to the body and their heads clash. Nasty cut on Morales.

The ringside physician climbs on the apron to check it out. A minute left in the round/fight if they continue.

    Nope. It's called off.

Going to the cards for a TD.

    Partial round score: 10-9 Maldonado

    98-92 Maldonado

That really was a horrible gash on Morales' right upper eyelid.

    Really deep.

    Official cards:

    David Denkin 97-93
    Pat Russell 97-93
    Ray Corona 98-92

Unanimous technical decision for Morales :-(

    Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

    Worst robbery of 2012.

You get ****ing ******s saying that about **** like Pacquiao vs. Bradley (which, yes, Pacquiao should have won, but by like 115-113..)

Maldonado dominated from the third on, pretty much as soon as he made his adjustments, and Morales himself didn't believe he was winning those rounds. Hell, from the look in his eyes he probably didn't believe he'd see the final bell.

Clearly winning eight rounds of ten (well seven and a half, but the last partial round does get scored in situations like this where it goes to a TD...) and having it scored 97-93 x2 and 98-92 against you? WTF did Maldonado have to do?

Bummer. Back to square one for the kid. By the sound of it, he should drop the "El Terrible" moniker to just plain "Terrible".

Knock him out to get a draw, I guess. Worse robbery than Rios-Abril?

    As bad. Just as bad.

I'm still angry. That has cast a damper on what had been a highly fulfilling day of boxing. I'm left with a very sick feeling and not particularly thrilled with the sport.

Morales was running scared like a little kid who had angered his mean uncle during an alcoholic binge rage. It just doesn't make sense. The scores he won by, he should have lost by.

The only rounds with any "wiggle" on them whatsoever were the ninth and the first two (which I gave to Morales, but were close, both much closer than the ninth). So the realistic acceptable range is from a shutout to 97-93 for Maldonado. Yet Denkin and Russell only give him three rounds and ****ing Ray Corona gives him two??

Good that I didn't watch this fight. Might have ruined my day.
