Round 1

Samir blocks some 1-2's and uppercuts from Gonzalez and throws some hooks during the downtime. Gonzalez is getting more impatient to land something and is just snapping his lanky arms up and all over the place, raining down on Samir from all angles. Samir is blocking with his right and working his left hand. Samir missing his hooks. Samir runs forward with a tapping left/right combo to the forehead. Gonzalez is troubling Samir a bit with his length and southpaw style, working his left hands in. Samir lands an uppercut.

Round 2

Bastie lands a hard jab to the chest and then blocks some power punches. They trade toe to toe and both land really hard stuff. Samir is landing hard right uppercuts to the face but getting his high-fade dented with straight lefts and right hooks from Gonzalez. Great action. They slug away in a phonebooth. Samir throws a 4 punch combo and only lands a right. Gonzalez presses against him with his elbows tucked. Gonzalez slaps him with a left to the jaw. Gonzalez working his fists in short motions on the inside, using flicks of the wrist. Big right hook across the brow by Gonzalez. Samir shoeshines, and Gonzalez answers. Big leather being traded in spurts by these two. Samir favoring the uppercut. Gonzalez is whipped by some hard right uppercuts and left hooks but still punching back and catches Samir again with a counter right hook right on the fade.

Round 3

Both punch right through each other, arms everywhere! Both are landing a lot of clean power punches even though many are also being deflected by the ricochet of limbs! DAMN! This is sloppy, but good action. Samir is ripping out left hooks and right uppercuts full force despite being exhausted. Gonzalez is boxing him pretty well from mid-range, not throwing a ton though.

Gotta say Gonzalez got the better of those early exchanges although both landed bombs.

 

Round 4

Samir pops Gonzalez in the nose with a right hand. Gonzalez drills him with a hard left cross to the face, best punch of the fight maybe. Samir digs left hooks and rights to the body. Samir double jabs Gonzalez away. Samir blocks a left hand lead. Gonzalez tries to train his right jab on Samir's face. Samir a bit more focused and controlled now. Samir ducks in front of Gonzalez, blocking. Samir flurries and then pulls away from counters. Samir throws a jab but has his cross knocked away by Gonzalez's right glove. Both try to push straight shots through but find there's too much elbow and arm in the way as they turn apart.

Round 5

Samir lands a few big power punches and gets Gonzalez backing up around the ring. Samir chases but can't catch him. Samir finally reaches out and whips him with a pair of left hooks. Samir is just winding his hands up, spinning them around and launching them out at Gonzalez like little bottle rockets. Gonzalez jabs and moves. Weak left hand lead by Gonzalez. Samir slips some jabs and gets inside but doesn't land anything. Gonzalez slaps with a right hooks. Samir throws a left hook but just flops over Gonzalez's back, tired. Samir then digs a much better left hook to the body. Samir gets jabbed in the face. Gonzalez moves to his left until almost getting trapped in a corner and peels out to the right, slapping again with a right hook. Samir takes a two punch combo to the face.

 

Round 6

Gonzalez is moving left (strange for a southpaw) while pumping his right jab. Samir lands a right hand, and then starts looking for his hook. Gonzalez works his right up high as a jab/hook hybrid. Samir is just whipping his arms out, landing to the body and head. He rocks Gonzalez but lands a low blow a moment later and causes the ref to pause the action and warn him. Gonzalez circles right quickly but Samir catches him with a big left hook to the face. Gonzalez could be on the verge of going down. Samir keeps waving his arms but has no gas left. Gonzalez sticks his jab and throws a little left cross. Now a short right hook to the face by Gonzalez. Stiff jab to the face by Gonzalez.

 

It was ruled a draw.

I actually had Gonzalez nicking the 6th and therefore the fight by 58-56...and I've liked and followed Bastie for a while. :conf
