Solo Boxeo Tecate: Michael Perez vs. Marcos Herrera RBR

Round 6

Perez paws with his jab and a right hand, then slips a few Herrera jabs. Perez is starting slow but quickly gains steam, hooking his way in on Herrera and backing him up. Herrera covers up and tries to slap away at Perez's jabbing hand with his own, sick of eating those quick jabs. Herrera ducks down and jabs low on Perez but eats a few hooks. Perez hits him between the pecs with a quick right hand. Perez is circling and watching, picking his spots and leading with some crisp power punches including uppercuts from the outside. Herrera is following, his body language showing he's discouraged but not entirely undetermined to still try and win. Herrera forces his way inside and trades some short-range slaps with Perez but can't get any leverage on them. Perez uses his feet and gets back outside where he can make his punches count, and lands a hook.

 

Round 7

Perez jabs high and hard into the eyes of Herrera. Perez keeps drifting off to his left and luring Herrera in while jabbing lightly. Herrera chops with a 1-2 but doesn't catch the light-footed Perez. Herrera is leaning his head off to one side, maybe trying to get Perez to take the bait and throw something that will take him off balance. Herrera gives up on that and just tries to walk through every 1-2 Perez crunches him with to get inside. Herrera tries a wild looping right hand and winds up just depositing himself into a clinch. Perez bounces on his toes, looking fresh and jabbing Herrera silly. Herrera throws some hard shoeshines up high and manages to scrape his fists across the face of Perez a few times but has little on his shots. Perez circles outside and then closes out the round with a quick flurry.

 

Round 8

Double hook from Perez. Triple hook now, as Herrera holds his right arm. Herrera tries to push his hands through into the face of Perez and just knock them around hoping to make contact, but Perez is stretching his neck out and holding his head back and landing sharp counters. Perez keeps sticking his jab out and holding Herrera in place with it to make good with a right hand and an escape. HARD OVERHAND RIGHT knocks Herrera off balance!! Finally Perez shows the fire and he's ALL OVER HERRERA, landing another brutal overhand right that sends Herrera tumbling into the ropes (with one more landing for good measure as Herrera is backing up) and then rolling along them into the corner for safe harbor, where Perez just opens up on him with several quick and hard punches, mostly flush left hooks to the face! It is over!

 

Bonus - middleweights

The Bronx's Eddie Gomez is 2-0 (2) and his Puerto Rican foe Jose Ramon Sanchez is 2-8-1 and kind of soft looking.

Round 1

Sanchez fires several quick jabs. The shorter Gomez leans in and fires his own jab high, one at a time before retracting himself back to the outside. Sanchez is busier, Gomez is the quicker and snappier. Gomez keeps the curls of his gloves pressed together in his guard, blocking most of the Sanchez jabs that are close enough to get to him. Gomez shows very quick reflexes, launching lone jabs up into Sanchez's face and then yanking his head and upper body out of the way in one fluid motion as Sanchez tries in vain to counter. Gomez paws with his jab from outside. Sanchez paws back. Neither is close to landing, or trying to. Very tactical, as they each take short little heel-to-toe steps while circling.

 

Round 2

The difference in class is even more pronounced now, as Gomez becomes a blur darting in and out with quick jabs and lead rights to the face. Sanchez tries to swing underneath at the moving target's body but is getting his clock cleaned and his face bombed. Sanchez purses his lip and nods Margarito-style but is clearly hurt. A quick Gomez right forces him backwards and on to one knee. Gomez comes back at him from the neutral corner as soon as he beats the count and whips him in the face with some solid hooks. Moments later Sanchez takes another knee from all the punishment culminating in an uppercut and hook combo, and walks to the nearest corner to rest his arms on it and bury his face into it, turning his back to the referee. He spins around to try and beat the count but the referee is unimpressed and waves his hands.

18 year old Eddie "E-Boy" Gomez improves to 3-0 with all three wins by stoppage.

Good looking kid!

 

E-Boy is his actual nickname...it's printed on his ring attire...honest. :yep

 

Damn, another one!

Braulio Santos vs. Jose Padilla, super featherweights

 

Round 1

Santos hooks him high and hurts him, then presses in and hooks low - ultimately dropping Padilla to a knee with hard left hooks to the body. Padilla seems OK to go on but Santos swarms him into a corner and overwhelms him with fast punches that force the stoppage as Padilla wilts, not defending himself.
