Round 2

Herrera throws long overhand rights that back Martin up, but the taller boxer comes right back with jabs to the head and body out of a quick-turning defensive posture. Herrera dings a few right hands off the side of Martin's head. Herrera leaps forward and clinches. Herrera throws several power punches while circling that Martin slips with ease before coming back with some crisp jabs and straight rights. Herrera lands a blatant rabbit punch and is cautioned.

Round 3

Herrera zooms in with hooks and superman rights, but Martin is too slick defensively. Martin digs some hard hooks to the body before getting back to the outside and jogging in concentric patterns around Herrera, jabbing all the while. Herrera shows little creativity, lunging in with rights upstairs and throwing can-opener hooks but is persistent if nothing else. Martin showboats a tiny bit, his hands low and chin out, just before the bell.

Round 4

Herrera lobs punch after punch at Martin, but misses or has them caught for the most part. He does land a surprise lead uppercut. Martin is hit low on the inside and then takes a flush hook after the break. They resume and Herrera catches him off guard with another hook that turns his head. Martin responds well with a few short straight punches, but Herrera is now defending well himself and making Martin miss a bit. Martin presses with a jab and Herrera steps to the side and hits him in the lower body. Martin misses with some wild hooks, clearly taken off his game.

Round 5

Herrera runs in with hooks and uppercuts, springing back off his toes when he lands or just collapsing into clinches. Martin lands a five punch combo once Herrera settles down. HARD hooks to the body by Martin. Herrera jabs at Martin's face but is parried and driven back. Jab and uppercut to the body by Martin - then a starchy right downstairs for good measure.

WTF? Telefutura just showed an unofficial scorecard that had Herrera winning rounds 1 & 2, and Martin rounds 3 & 4. :blood

 

Round 6

Herrera lunges with a few hooks, landing the last one partially as Martin shies off. Martin tries to get into a rhythm, jabbing and whipping Herrera's body with hooks and long-arm rockets from the rear hand. Martin misses an overhand right and is countered with a short hook by Herrera. Martin keeps trying to land his jab regularly to set up his offense but Herrera is clinching him up too often. Herrera is getting cute, and spinning his rear fist around playfully. Herrera tosses a couple of short hooks into Martin's face on the inside.

Round 7

Martin loads up big long right hands and combines them with wide slapping hook, eschewing his solid boxing base. Herrera now plays the outside man, looking to block or slip these punches and time jabs through them. Martin's strength is showing, though. Herrera is moved by each assault. They close in and exchange a couple of short punches, with Herrera landing a nice little uppercut. Martin misses a lunging right and a hook.

 

Round 8

Martin asserts his jab and gets Herrera moving, but Herrera lands a nice right hand. They take turns attacking, with Herrera using uppercuts and short looping punches while taking big steps forward and Martin using long slapping shots including stinging hooks to the body with his feet set on the outside. They clinch and wrestle a bit until broken up. They come right back together and infight, with Martin landing a nice uppercut to the ribs. They are again broken up and Martin comes right at Herrera, missing a big hook. Both throw several punches and only land a couple in a sloppy finish.
