Solo Boxeo Tecate: Sergio Mora vs. Jose Flores RBR

Round 3

Mora isn't taking any chances now, sliding his feet back and keeping a wide berth with his jab shooting steadily across. Flores manages to hem his foe into a corner anyway and keeps firing his hard straight bullet of a left hand. Mora seems really bothered by that punch, whether it comes at his head or body. Mora now turns the tables and seizes advantage of a lapse in Flores' activity, forcing a dirty clinch war and landing short-burst combos around the side while leaning off for space and then grinding right back in to hug. Flores is completely shut down while Mora goes through his grab-release-hit-hit-repeat routine. Flores walks into a few jabs. HARD 1-2-3 by Mora, with the punctuating left hook turning Flores' hard almost completely around with sickening velocity.

Round 4

Flores is coming in low, sweeping out with right hooks to the body whlie chasing Mora around the ring. Now Flores straightens up tall and advances behind a high guard to pluck Mora's jabs out of the air, combined with some side-to-side bobbing. HARD left hand lead by Flores. Mora throws combos off the back foot, drawing Flores back toward the ropes but never quite clinging to them long enough to get trapped. Hard lead right thrown up from its holster by his belly, and a follow-up left hook by Mora. Rights to the body from outside while sliding his feet back. Mora leans his upper body away as Flores shoots both hands out at him, then tilts back on the rebound with an uppercut to the chest. Mora is in his element, tapping and not getting hit. Good left hand by Flores, caught Mora lingering too long and pondering his next move. Mora misses a lead right, but Flores walks straight onto a hard left hook. It doesn't make him stop or even blink. A half second later he's planted an equally hard right hook and a straight left on the fleeing Mora.

Round 5

The Mora chant is back. He's ignoring the crowd, in the zone as he backs up and tries to lure Flores to the ropes so he can turn him and counter. Flores isn't biting, just creeping in close enough on Mora to reach out and tap with his right jab but not fully opening up. Nobody wants to make the first move. Flores' eye is badly puffed. Mora circles and jabs. Long groping lead right by Mora. HARD uppercuts by Mora, lefts and rights clapping up into Flores' ribs under his elbows as he guard his face. Now Flores opens up, slapping out a few limp body shots but not making much impact with his arm punches. Good Mora round.

Flores' face is several different colors as he sits on his stool with a half dozen attendants holding ice bags and other accoutrement against his ruptured skin (ranging in tone from egg to violet). :barf

 

Round 6

Shibata comes forward, ripping out wide right hooks up top and digging straight lefts to the body. Mora circles out and lines up his right hand lead from a half-crouch, hastening to run around behind Flores and get set to circle faster than he can keep up after every clean touch. Mora steps in, pinches Flores' arms together with his own, and moves by him unharmed. Mora is treating Flores like a fellow passenger on a crowded train. "Excuse me, just passing by". Flores lands a few shots! Mora taps his chin, brash and bold. Now Mora lands some of his own, snapping Flores' head with a couple of uppercuts and then shoeshining. Flores ducks, feints, swoons, and sidesteps - using Mora's own trademarked spoiling tactics in the last half minute.

Round 7

Mora opens up with a ferocious volley, stoking the coals to a blaze with right uppercuts and left hooks. Flores manages to block some but not all. The Mora chant is back. Mora is only putting together three shots at a maximum, although whether that is a conservation strategy or a necessity due to having already overexerted (or just a matter of habit) is hard to say. Flores is trying to walk Mora down to the ropes with his right jab, but unable to touch him. Mora is catching and slap-parrying jabs with his left, and rolling back out of the way of the few that get by. Flores lands one glancing left hand. Mora waves his left glove around, making Flores waste his right arm trying to fence with him...and leaving him defenseless against Mora's right as it causes mayhem with straights and uppercuts.
