    Round 3

Chinchilla waves his right jab out, and gets blasted by a straight right lead from Vargas. Chinchilla keeps coming, right jab waving in the air as Vargas keeps circling away from it and popping his left jab out with moderate accuracy. It's clear Vargas is much better on the outside (although he's no cutie pie himself). For Chinchilla to make this competitive, he has to get it back in the trenches. Vargas is working the lead right trying to prevent that. It's almost more useful than the jab in holding Chinchilla off. Shoeshine to the body by Vargas after Chinchilla gets inside, then a push-off and some backing up to the ropes. Vargas keeps his jab flowing as he uses the whole ring. Chinchilla doesn't land a thing.

    10-9 Vargas

    29-27 Vargas

    Round 4

Chinchilla comes forward swooping down and then snapping up at the knees with his right jab launching toward the sky...and clear wide of Vargas' face. Vargas flurries and runs, playing the boxer. Chinchilla forces his way in to a clinch. Vargas is meeting Chinchilla with body shots and getting bombed in the face with right hooks and chopping lefts. Fast shoeshine to the body by Vargas. Right hand lead by Vargas as he pushes off the ropes and backs across the ring away from Chinchilla. High right jab by Chinchilla. Clinch. Vargas takes a few body shots while laid against the ropes and then rips a few hard hooks of his own. SIMULTANEOUS UPPERCUTS!! Vargas' right uppercut literally reflects the approach of Chinchilla's left uppercut and they bounce off each other like sub-atomic particles!!!!!!!!!!!

    10-9 Vargas

    39-36 Vargas

    Round 5

Vargas jabs and backs up, then stands his ground with a hard straight combo rather than be backed fully into a corner. Vargas starts to fire powerful right hand leads by themselves while hopping around in wide circles. Chinchilla turns his right arm inward, elbow sticking out to serve as a shield as he comes forward and tries to situate a left uppercut to the body. Vargas pushes out with his jab and then tries to duck a left hand but doesn't quite time the movement right, managing to get scraped and then flop into Chinchilla to hold. Vargas' face is taco filling. A mess. Chinchilla is hounding him on the inside now. They're back to the opening round dynamic, gloves pressed together as they trade in the phonebooth.

    10-9 Chinchilla

    48-46 Vargas

Last round. If Chinchilla scores one knockdown, he can salvage a draw on my card. Two, and he can win.

    Round 6

Chinchilla puts out his right jab and gets Vargas retreating from it into a corner. Chinchilla opens up on him and Vargas has to step in and hold. Looping lefts by Chinchilla. Toe to toe, Chinchilla is throwing a bit too wildly and missing with shots flying over and behind Vargas' back. More wild shots by Chinchilla, missing four in a row but landing the last and hardest punch - a thudding right hook to the temple as Vargas was ducked forward in perfect position for it. Chinchilla lets his hands go, and just bangs away on Vargas' head and shoulders with both arms. Chinchilla lands a few nasty short lefts on the inside. Right jabs and lefts together now, and then back behind the high guard and leaning forward. Vargas is firing his own 1-2 but hitting arm and has to run back toward the ropes as Chinchilla gains more and more ground. Vargas is forced to take one more stand and trades furiously, flipping out lefts and rights from his chest as they stand in front of each other and bash each other's brains in.

    10-9 Chinchilla

    57-56 Vargas

    Jonathan davis 58-55
    Max DeLuca 57-56

...all for Jose Antonio "Chiquita" Vargas, local boy who gets big cheers.

IMO they both deserve cheers and nobody deserved to lose (although on the ten point must system, the right guy did).

...Chiquita? :blood Kind of a...weird nickname for a male boxer, isn't it?
