Marciano was on the canvas less than 98% of HW champions. You just go overboard on this.

I guess Louis is a bum too. Walcott had him on the canvas more than Marciano was down in his entire career.

Legitimately good contendors? Roland LaStarza was a pretty legitimate good contendor, I think. Rex Layne was also a good contender with a win over Walcott. He was said to be the next Dempsey and Dempsey said he was probably the next HW Champ. Marciano pretty much ruined Layne with one of the most concussive KO's you'll ever see on film. His two front teeth got knocked out, too. John Garfield attests that he was never the same and that he was a pretty solid fighter up until he met with Marciano that night in the Garden.

What HW had any where near equal output? If you list Frazier I'd at least like to see a filmed instance of this. Punch-stats would be nice too.

I respect Rocky. I don't think he was the greatest of all time, though. If Archie Moore and Joe Walcott floored him, I'd be scared for Rocky to get hit by David Tua or George Foreman. Rocky never felt that type of power in his life!!

Then again, Rocky always found a way to win. He was a clutch fighter. There's a reason he was undefeated. You can't totally count Rocky out against anyone. Finding a way to win was his specialty.

Rocky is overrated and underrated all at once. He slipped punches nicely, was durable, and had freakish power for a little guy. But.....could you really imagine a 187 pound guy planting himself in front of Mike Tyson and winning?

It is a shame that no contemporary fighters were able to capitalize on Rocky Marciano's limitations that are so obvious to armchair observers today.

Marciano was floored twice in title fights.against Walcott ,he was conceding 12 lbs
Against Moore, Marciano was 1/4lbs the heavier man, both were taller than Rocky.

I love The Rock as he is an atg and a beast h2h against fighters who weighed 200 or less(except Tunney, Patterson, Frazier) but his power is a bit overrated as he won many of his fights through attrition rather than raw, animal punching power alone.

Try to find one oponent or sparring partner, who questioned his power.

I'm not going to count punches for you. Mostly because nothing in my post suggests anything in yours. :blurp
