Mate im slacking hard. Everyone who told me 2nd year would be different is a massive liar. WHen did you do your degree and what you doing now?
Ok so youve been doing it a while then. SME marketing? To be honest i find both quite interesting so im not sure which aspect im going to be looking into following in the future and at the moment were still at a very low level. Applying for an industrial placement with KPMG currently.
Oh ok. What is being a FD like? Its a position I would be aiming to reach at some point in my career possibly. Obviously it depends on where you work but what has your experience been like? Yeah ive learnt that lesson for sure. I waited around for the careers fairs and that and by that point half the positions were gone. I am aiming to do a study year abroad in australia next year instead anyway but am going to continue my application for the experience and if i get an offer ill have to make that decision then. Finanical accounting, management accounting, business finance (looking at commodities, shares, trusts, portfolios etc), marketing, contract/negligence law, a study to work module and next semester i start a football business module.
i used to do recruitment for finnce and accounting. big 4 is good but can be limiting due to niche specialised natue of roles. would prob recommend top 10 for good grounding in all aspects of accountancy. good luck.
Yeah the lecturer was inspired by the book money ball and works with rugby and cricket clubs doing a similar kind of job so he has real experience and is enthusiastic. What kind of companies in the top 10 would you recommend? The advantage i found from speaking to employees of kpmg (who i have many family friends) and deloittes was that due to their size they were happy for you to move between departments and even abroad to keep on staff they thought were worthwhile and seeing as i have little clue where particularly i want to end up that was appealing to me.
any of the top 10 will give you good experience of accounting whilst working with fairly substantial companies. if you want to move into banking after qualifying then has tro be big 4 really. if you want commerce and industry then top 10 is fine. i think management accounting will give you a moire interesting career path and imo make it easier to move to the top of the tree as opposed to financial which is just number crunching really.......but obviously that depends on your own preferences. good luck.
Im not sure to be honest its a bit early for me still. Im looking at positions in audit at the big 4 mainly at the moment, id like to go with a large company as im not 100% sure where i want to end up so i'd like the oppurtunity to move around within the company. Cheers, like i said above its a bit early for me personally to decide where i want to end up and ive got plenty of time to decide, so im just trying to keep as many doors open as possible and get as many exemptions from the professional exams as i can while im at uni. What experience do you have in accountancy/finance?
There is an article over on Boxrec about the board only receiving one complaint. I'm sceptical that the situation is as black and white as some people are suggesting. If people were not being paid, how has this stayed so quiet for so long, and how come further complaints haven't been received ? http://news.boxrec.com/news/2012/exclusive-board-boss-contract-disputes-and-non-payment-rumours
because someone owing you money on good terms is better than owing you money through the courts i suppose and with no other promotional options its dont bite the hand that feeds you i guess
