It's a sad situation if this is true, however, I think we all know that this goes on in boxing fairly frequently with TV money coming in after the event has taken place (and for other reasons). But I fear that there is just not enough interest and / or money in UK boxing at present. We really need mainstream terrestrial tv channels to pick up some of the slack. We all pay our licence fees so the BBC should play its part surely!? I know some of what I am saying has nothing to do with allegedly but I think this is why its got to this situation. On the other hand I am not a fan of alleg! And do feel like certain individuals have a grip on the domestic boxing market. Lets hope Eddie Hearn can pick up some fresh talent rather than just established boxers.
I thought that hes suing because an article over there said BoxNation was being funded by 'gangsters':huh
Nothing on Boxrec has been pulled recently for suggesting he's not paid fighters. The thread that says ''Suspend non paying promoters'' relates to a remark Eddie Hearn made, so there's no threat of legal action. Of course, the posts are monitored carefully as several attempts have been made by Allegedly to close the site down. If you type in the two words F**** W***** it's automatically turned into ''allegedly''. It's why there was a battle of wills between Ian McNeilly (Dondada) who is the editor of Boxrec News and Steve Bunce on their forum. According to Jeff Thomas Ian is a top bloke, nothing that he's said during my discussions with him has made me think otherwise, but there is a clear anti-Allegedly slant to most of his postings, something he doesn't deny. Buncey obviously didn't like him making a few remarks about BN and it's prospects, arguing that as a boxing website they ought to be supporting the venture. Though I can see both sides to the argument, it does seem odd that Steve has jumped into bed with a man who tried to wreck his BunceLive events by banning his contracted fighters from attending, and who (to my knowledge) has attempted to (or has) sued him in the past. Really though there's no need for this thread to be banned. Nobody has mentioned anybody's name directly (in part because it's impossible on here) and no fighters have been mentioned either. Though it's obvious who they actually are.
