What does Pavlik bring to the table?

Calzaghe is twice the fighter Pavlik is.

Pavlik should just consider himself fortunate Calzaghe deosn't want him.

Pavlik is 'easy work' for a boxer like Calzaghe.

Just change the name from Cotto to Pavlik and its the same damm thing.

    Pfffft.

    Hey bruh . . . watch it. :(

I'm a PBF fan and a JC fan too. But I still chew their asses when I don't like what they are doing. :D

That's the kind of fan I'am. I don't make excuses.

well... for me personally theres huge differances

Pavlik and Joe C are not in the same weight class at all...
Mayweather and Cotto were 1 and 2 at welterweight

Joe C has no obligation to fight Pavlik
Mayweather was the champion, had an obligation to defend against the second best fighter and fellow champion at ww

Joe C is at the very tail end of his career and is past his prime
Mayweather is in his prime and is what... 6 years younger then JC?

Its like the old Leonard Ellerbe line of reasoning... my fighter is so superior to yours on paper that the fight doesn't even need to be made.

The crucial difference though is Floyd was ducking the top challenger in a division in which he was 'champ' of.He wanted to be viewed as number 1 WW & PFP,but wouldnt fight his most deserving challenger.

Calzaghe has no duty to Pavlik or Boxing though. He's in a higher pair of weight classes.Calzaghe owes him nothing as Pavliks not even a contender at 168 or 175.

Why make a thread, when I responded to you in the other thread?

As always Kirk I value your opinion. That being said, its the biggest, best fight around that weight, and with Pavlik's frame I am sure he could meet Joe at a catch weight.

Joe was willing to fight out of his class against Bernard. He should just make the damm fight with Pavlik.

Why assume your post is the only post I am responding to, its been days of reading this line of logic so I finaly made the thread.

For the record, while I don't like Calzaghe's decision, I don't have near as big a problem with the actual decision as I do Calzaghe fans trying to discredit Pavlik as a means of justifying Joe's move. This is my central issue and was always my central issue with Floyd fans also.

Oh and another thing, to be honest I don't think your post deserved a response anyway. You said Pavlik is busy beating bums which is nonsense. He took one easy fight, wanted to fight Joe and was refused.

Pavlik took more difficult assingments than Joe did for years so don't get it twisted.

I haven't partaken in this. I don't like the Jones and retire plan, I hate it in fact.

I also never cared much about Pavlik, he's nothing special. What I wanted was Dawson-Calzaghe, a real challenge and test, which would bring more acclaim in the long run.

You don't think it deserved a reply, and yet you do it here?

I was pretty sure Pavlik had another easy fight lined up, seemingly it hasn't been made yet.

Lockett was set before Joe rejected.

I have no problem with Pavliks resume, nor that he fight easy fights after Taylor, but why the bashing of Calzaghe for not facing a MW. Calzaghe weighs 190, and is probably not interested in going down to SMW at 36. Pavlik should do the sensible thing and face AA, who is in his own division.
