So how does this work with the contract? It's sooooo much trouble to get a contract agreed on in the first place, but when someone pulls out they can often get a replacement in pronto. Do they just make the replacement an offer he can't refuse (i.e is Peter getting offered something close to what Povetkin would make?)

Vlad Vs. Povetkin would have been a mismatch. Vlad Vs. Peter will be mismatch also, but as long as some think that Peter knocked Vlad down three times it will make it interesting. Vlad was "not" knocked down three times in that fight. Once by illegal punch behind the head and a shove. Vlad will knock Peter out.
Contrary to what most will probably say. I will consider it a career defining moment if Wlad stops Peter in dominant fashion.
By they way, Vitali Klitschko Vs. Kirk Johnson was sold out at Madision Square Garden, New York, New York, USA, HBO does not want anyone to know that. Vitali knocked Titty At-l-ASS' fighter out in the second round after Titty said that Kirk would knock Vitali out with one punch.
