I disagree. I thought it was a great fight not because of toe to toe action that wasnt involved in it but the drama that was in the fight. Think of it, the 2 baddest guys around and Hearns had been trying to get the fight for a long time. Everybody figured Leonard was scared of him, and then finally it happens. The fight starts out slowly with Leonard using lateral movement and keeping far out of range. He obviously respects Tommy's power. Leonard is confused and looks as if he's not in the fight, he tries to get inside Hearns' head by pushing him after the bell and recieves a short right for his trouble. Hearns continues to outbox him until the 6th when Sugar fires that left uppercut/hook and staggers Hearns. Hearns is hurt and starts fighting going backwards, it looks like Leonard is going to stop him but then for as good a finisher as Leonard is, he cant. And then 2 or 3 rounds later Hearns has his legs underneath him and is outboxing Leonard again! Leonard is behind on the score cards and in between rounds gets the famous Dundee quote. He comes out smoking and catches Hearns in the 12th but is it too little too late? Hearns is still comfortably ahead and survives the round but Sugar comes out in the 13th and knocks him through the ropes and wins the fight. Pretty boy Leonard knocks out the Hitman! What I'm trying to say is even if it was dull in parts it was so damn dramatic with the guy on top changing hands so often. Looks like a Hearns shutout and then a Leonard ko and then back to a Hearns shutout and then leonard stops him. And these guys are the two baddest guys on the block. This is why, in my opinion, its one of the greatest fights of all times. But I agree with you in some ways. It's like a drama film thats great the first time you watch it because of the twist at the end while Leonard-Duran1 is the action packed shoot em up thats great everytime you see it. Both are great in their own ways. :thumbsup

The fight's intriguing if anything, it has some magic about it, mainly due to its importance. But I'd struggle to watch it all again. There's hundreds of better fights to watch.

I said it really didn't take all that much artillery to leave Tommy a dead man walking in the fight, and it didn't. The combo finished him definitively, but Hearns was gone before that, Leonard keeps waving the ref in to stop it before he had to apply that finishing combo. It did not take that much artillery to have Hearns's legs all over the place and him running around the ring desperately trying to survive and ended as a competitive force in the 14th, not a lot at all IMO compared to the sustained punishment we have seen many many fighters absorb from potent attackers. The quality of Leonard's attacking does not mean that Hearns's resilience was not noticeably poor, which it genuinely was as far as I could see.
