It's just another ploy to sell the fight to the public....

Wait till the HBO 24/7 and Countdown... They will have the general public beliving that Pac is the favorite...

 

Pacquiao is no RJJ. He is fast in his offence but defence is not something I associate with Pac. He gets hit way too much to be compared to Jones Jr.

 

I'm not going to lie, I'll take great pleasure in seeing Manny Pacquiao get destroyed by De La Hoya. A man has to know his limits, and it isn't like De La Hoya is any comparison to a John Ruiz. Hoya is a highly skilled fighter, and although far removed from his prime, has still displayed enough speed (Mayweather) and power (Mayorga) in recent years to distinguish himself from a Ruiz.

Manny Pacquiao's stock rose considerably after his demolition of David Diaz, and once again, you have to ask yourself why? Diaz was a punching bag, one of the worst title holders in Boxing, and everybody was saying this even before the first bell rang. When Pacquiao won, he all of a sudden became the best fighter in the world, and I just don't go along with that. He was outboxed by Juan Manuel Marquez in their rematch, and shown he could get hurt by a natural featherweight. How does he expect to take Hoya's best punches, a natural 147lb fighter?

The reality is, this fight will be the biggest event of the year and most Boxing enthusiasts will watch it despite moaning about it being a farce. They are both the best seat fillers in Boxing today, both have a history of being exciting, and both have a lot of power at their respective weights. The event will be massive, but the fight will end anti-climatic with it being horrendously one sided.

Manny Pacquiao has a chance to win, because this is Boxing. It is a really shocking sport at times, and we've seen huge upsets all the way from Liston vs Ali to Leonard vs Hagler, etc. However, Manny Pacquiao will be knocked out in this fight, and if we are going to make him the best in the world on a victory over David Diaz, I expect his stock to lower considerably after the loss.

 

I think Oscar will be too tired by the 8th round (I think the 147 weight will hurt him) and if he really gets tired pacquiao will explode on him. Of course I'm still picking Oscar to win though.

 

Good point! Anyway, hope pac loses in a decent way......not by KO! or a wishful thinking! Pac manages to win convincingly!

 

Well, he has a shot, this is boxing after all. I'd be crazy to bet big money on him though.

 

I'll tell you what . . . it's not impossible that these "experts" are all in GBP's payroll to HYPE this event to the max . . . they need maximum promotion for this.

 

Yup. Freddie has been very public about Pac-Man's chances even before the fight. If Pac-Man gets TKO'd, particularly a KO that effects his career, Freddie Roach's stature will go DOWN A LOT!
