The record for most punches thrown in a single round is held by Vince Phillips. He threw 237 punches in the 12th and final round of his decision loss to Ray Oliveira on 12/22/2000. The record for most punches landed in a round is held by Rocky Gannon. He landed 99 punches in the 4th round of his 7th round TKO victory over Undra White on 9/13/1996. As far as the other records go, they are correct- Margarito beat Zack Padilla's record of 1596 when Padilla beat Ray Oliveira, so Margarito currently holds the record with 1675. Phillip Holiday does hold the record for most punches landed in 12 FULL rounds, but the record for most punches landed in a 12 round fight is currently held by Cecilo Espino with 637 punches landed in his 11th round KO over Luigi Camputaro on 1/26/1992. Any of you guys have more fun facts that you would like to share?
Georges Carpentier began his career as a flyweight & retired as a heavyweight. From 1908 to 1926, Carpentier fought in every boxing weight class (at that time), being the only pro boxer to hold that distinction.
A midget can win EIGHT titles between 105 (strawweight) and 130 (sup featherweight) whereas a man can only win TWO titles between 175 (LHW) and 200 (cruiser). Guys like Ali can only win one obviously.
cant remember but the record for most punches thrown in 12 rounds was with kevin kelley vs troy dorsey. mot sure if it still stands...seems like it was 2650 punches
Wow. 2650 punches thrown in a fight. That's more than one punch a second. Also, Undra White must have had the greatest chin and worst defence in the history of boxing if a guy can actually land 99 punches on him in a single round. :!:
--The two first rounds started very slowly with no real punches from any of the boxers. In the third round Haye stepped up and knocked down Harrison. Harrison got up but received too many punches without fighting back and the referee stopped the bout. Total Punches Haye Harrison Landed 24 1 Thrown 71 32 Pct. 33% 3%--
Don't know the answer to this but is GGG the longest reigning major titlest never to have gone 12 rounds?
