My favorite is RJJ putting Larry in his place. RJJ has the best insight than anyone that has ever held the mic at HBO, he should be brought back immediately.
You don't have to have boxed before to know boxing...that's bull****. Merchant was a boxing reporter before Roy Jones was born, you don't think he has just as much, if not more knowledge as Jones? Sure, someone who hasn't boxed before doesn't know what it feels like to be hit, but they can still know all the technical aspects of the game...they can know what they are looking at. Did Lampley ever box? Howard Cossell? Bert Sugar? Are you going to deny their boxing knowledge?
You definately have to box to truly know about boxing. Before I started I thought I knew it all from observing but you soon realise you know nothing and with experience in the ring comes greater knowledge.
Jim Lampley "Bang, Bang..." (sorry I couldn't find a normal clip): [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbOYnw4gbuI[/ame]
The video clips posted here were great but Lampley repeating 'bam, bam' ad naseum as he came in his pants over Manny's peppering of a static opponent was more annoying and embarrassing than humorous.
