Yes you are american. No one else cares who's on top apart from you who's going mental. When limerickbox aka stb and other americans kept yapping about how america was on top becuase they had more champions you didn't bat an eyelid.

I'm no British and I don't care who's the top nation

    1. Yes, I am American. No, I am not AmericanS (PLURAL). :patsch
    2. No one else cares who's on top...? How about Hans, the guy constantly making threads about it. I've never made a nation vs nation thread.
    3. I didn't bat an eyelid at their threads? If someone makes a thread or two about it, it's cool, statistics are fun. But if you can't see what Hans is doing, you're an idiot. He makes countless US vs UK threads and disses American's all the time, you do too.

I don't like nationalism, racism, and general prejudice.

What could be changed in amateur boxing for boxers to be better prepared for the pros?

They removed head gear and changed the scoring to 10 point must

They have the wsb where boxers fight up to 10 times a year over 5 rounds and they have the apb where the boxers now fight over 12 rounds. They couldn't change it anymore to make boxers more pro ready

We will soon have boxers turning pro who have boxed 12 rounds fights

The Olympics are odd. They did used to mean a lot, because it was one of the few times citizens from countries who opposed each did get together in one place.

But global tournaments of all kinds became much more common in the 80s and 90s.

Regarding the Olympics, the home country gets a representative in EVERY boxing weight class just for hosting the games.

Which is why basically half of the UK's medalists came in the last London Olympics. Anthony Joshua, Anthony Ogogo, Luke Campbell and Fred Evans arguably never would've gotten as far as they did without the pressure from the home crowds affecting the judges. Especially Joshua.

And everyone has figured out that a good promoter in the pro game is more important in the pros than an Olympic medal.

The top UK fighters of the last 15 years (from 2000 to 2015) were likely Calzaghe, Froch and Hatton ... who never even sniffed an Olympic medal.

Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua used the Olympics to get off to a good start and big paydays. But most of the UK medalists - Audley Harrison, David Price, Tony Jeffries and now Luke Campbell have sort of crashed and burned or, in the case of Fred Evans, didn't turn pro at all.

In many sports, Olympic medals are still vitally important. In boxing, it was really only important in the pro game financially for about 25 years - from 1976, when U.S. medalists signed pro contracts for big money to 2000, when Audley signed a big TV deal and then was burned at the stake for not becoming a world champion in his first couple fights.

When guys like Ali, Foreman and Frazier own gold, everyone cheered, but there was no money in. They still had to fight in small halls for peanuts.

Floyd Mayweather won a bronze and became the richest athlete in the world. Andre Ward won a gold medal and basically just fights in Oakland and nobody knows who he is. Jermain Taylor won the bronze and became the undisputed middleweight champion, but Kelly Pavlik knocked him out for the middleweight title and didn't even make the Olympic team. Deontay Wilder won the bronze and is the current WBC champ, but Charles Martin and Bryant Jennings are going to be fighting for titles in the coming weeks and months, and neither of them came close to any Olympic medals.

If you win a medal and can get some extra money out of it, great.

If not, get a good promoter. The promoter is probably worth more in the long run.

Froch also was a world bronze medalist . The Olympic medal is overrated by the casual fan a world medal is just as valuable if not more so

World Championship games just don't get nearly as much promotion, is all.

    It shows that marketing works.

Most of the fighters that I see in MMA are white, yet most of the boxers from the USA are black. I doubt MMA is stealing any talent.
