So.... many of you might not like fantasy H2H match-ups but for purposes of why not, lets see what you think. All fights would be in both competitors primes. This is not intended to be a Pride vs UFC thread. All fights would take place in the UfC cage under current rules and would be considered a title fight (5x5 min) It is not mandatory, but I would appreciate (it would make the thread more interesting) if you could explain why you favor one fighter over the other in their respective match-up. Thanks for your posts in advance:good This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected ps. I dont think I need to explain strengths and weaknesses of each competitor considering they are well known fighters to this forum.:bbb
Hughes, Can avoid the kimura for 5 minutes, can do real damage from guard, nothing to worry about standing. Silva, better defense, far better all around game Arona, just better all around. Better grappler, better striker, better takedowns, beat him in ADCC (very close though) Liddell, used to have a good chin, won't get taken down, will eventually land.
I say saku is a better striker barely. and can do some great work on the ground. I pick sakuraba and damn would I like to see that! arona I would agree but if ortiz got him down with them elbows it could be trouble, maybe arona is a better striker, I guess this match could still happen if arona comes to the ufc, ortiz is past it though. I think the silva/manhoef fight is very dangerous, you seen manhoef's low kicks to lawlers legs completly shut him down remember silva doesnt really check low kicks and could be a major hole in his defense. also silva does get hit, but never has received a punch from the guy who ko'd mark hunt! if manhoef connects its lights out silva. anderson is a good counterstriker so thats in his favor against a reckless brawler, but I see this being more danerous than the vitor belfort matchup, still I will take anderson, shame on ufc for not getting this fight a few years ago.atsch I pick liddell, but lil nog does have pretty good hands, and some power to go with it. if he dropped liddell, and got top control it would be an interesting situation. liddell was a tough son of a ***** though, probably the easiest pick of them.
Hughes by decision. I think Hughes would be able to avoid the sub and grind Sakuraba down for 5 rounds, possibly forcing a stoppage with his GnP. Then again Sakuraba was a wizard when it came to submissionss, I wouldn't be surprised to see him grab a sub at all. Silva by KO. Would be all action while it lasted, but Manhoef's balls to the wall, KO or be KOed style would play right into Silva's hands. Silva would counter Manhoef frequently and knock him out. Not too sure about this one. Both are very strong grapplers that grind opponents down. I'd probably take Arona because I fancy him as the better grappler. Would probably be a close fight. And a boring one. Liddell. I think this would be a great fight. I think Liddell's takedown defence would ensure the fight stays standing. Standing this would be a great battle I think. Lil Nog's boxing is pretty damn good by MMA standards and would ensure that he keeps it competitive. I think Chuck's power would make the difference, perhaps not stopping Nog, but ensuring a decision win.
does no one see it for saku? I think, to be honest that saku rapes hughes.he fought so many bigger wrestlers randelman and rampage and you saw what he did to them, of couse neither of them was in the same class as huges but they had a huge size advantage to make up for the lack of wellroundedness. hughes would play right into sakuraba's strenghts and get the beatdown. I would love to see this fight! Perhaps saku can come to the ufc just for this.:hey
No doubt it would be a close fight and I could easily see it going Sakuraba's way as well. My gut just said Hughes really. Unlike those wrestlers you mentioned Hughes could defend a sub as well as impose himself on someone. It would be a tremendous fight though. I would have loved to see it.
Hughes has got my respect in regards to his stand-up recently, but it was not very good at his peak. I think Sakuraba breaks Hughes down, and stops him in the 4th. I think Hughes would be competitive, but Sakuraba would be winning at time of stoppage. Silva has excellent thai skills in regards to most of his mma peers, but Manhoef is well above most of his peers in this regard. Manhoef would not give Silva the respect that many others do standing. I see Silva winning this fight by guillotine, but would not be surprised to see Manhoef knock Silva out.
Arona and Ortiz is a good match-up. I think Tito takes the first 2 rounds, but Arona comes on to take the next 3. Arona by decision on my card, but wouldn't be surprised to see the judges score it incorrectly. Chuck is an all time great, it is hard for me to just pick against him without going back and looking at some of little Nog's footage. I remember Nogueira might have punches that are a little straighter, which may allow him to beat Liddell to the punch. I'll give this one ago later.
standing its paul daley's fight on the ground it is nick diaz fight. It will go to the ground and daley does not have a good ground game, not even close. nick while egar to show off his striking skills will get his chin tested instead, he has a pretty good chin and will survive a few good shots then it will go to the ground at some point. nick diaz wins this. however I would love to see this fight! diaz is rarely in a boring fight and against daley it would be a fun.:bbb

I give it to manhoef, he may have been wild but so is wandy manhoef does however hit harder and is faster. also lets not forget manhoef's lowkicks wand could beat manhoef on the ground most likely considering he is a bjj black belt, but he would not be shooting in for takedowns, it would have to go there in the course of the fight. by then it would probably be too late for wanderlei. fun match while it lasts, it would not last long.
nick diaz prides himself on his striking he didnt have to stand with many of his opponents and he did anyway he would pay for it here I believe, this is why it would probably not be a simple fight for nick diaz though the earlier diaz gets this one to the ground the less damage he receives.
