Dude a real fan of boxing cannot not love GGG. But as Golovkin is declining (slightly even) Canelo continues to improve his skills and get stronger. Imo he is now at his absolute peak. If you could put this Canelo vs GGG at his absolute peak you'd have a legendary matchup that leans away from 50/50 depending on which guy you root for. But the window most closely approximate to that circumstance has since closed. If GGG fights Canelo the third time, he's gonna' get hurt badly unless he goes into survival mode early. Father Time is the GOAT.
Being unable to stop your opponent don’t make you a loser GGG at a bare minimum deserved the first fight
nope, never said that. However, not making the adjustments to your game plan over multiple fights thinking you will get the decision when it is obvious to everyone & Canelo’s mama that you won’t…. does indeed not make you a winner … aka loser. It was obvious after the 1st fight he can not win the decision against Canelo. I was adamant that he should go out on his shield in the 2nd fight to secure the KO. I’ve stated it many times for this 3rd fight. If GGG does not go out on His shield going for the KO in the 3rd Canelo fight. It will be obvious he is just showing up for one last payday.
How do you suspect Bivol will approach Canelo? He is a very skilled fighter and is capable of outboxing fighters, has solid speed, uses strategy and has a physical size advantage over Canelo. I think the fight is very exciting but now sitting in his shoes, it isn't unrealistic to say the deck is a bit stacked against him if he is to win a decision against Canelo. Do you think he is gonna come out and do his thing, or do you think at some point he "goes for it" which I really haven't seen him do. He closed out the Joe Smith fight well, but his bell was rung for the prior 2 rounds after that shot after the bell. Do you think Canelo comes out of the Bivol fight relatively unscathed and then fights GGG in September? I personally don't have a favorite fighter in boxing so I don't choose sides in the GGG/Canelo, Floyd/Manny, Ward/Kovalev dramas, I just love watching skilled fighters. And these next 2 Canelo fights certainly meet that criteria. I can see what you are saying about GGG maybe getting stopped (I do disagree though) but I will say he seems like less of a killer when he isn't being the bully so I wonder if he is willing to get KO'd if he gets hurt. That is what makes it worth watching for me.
You missed a positive post-to-likes ratio. Surely an expert must also be able to persuade and influence through cogent argument? Put it this way, if someone was posting on a quantum physics forum and made 18,257 supposedly scientific observations but only received 5,479 positive responses to these observations that would be solid evidence he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. It's all about peer review...
Not sure how big of a size advantage he has (much more confident of judging that once they are in the ring) but I think Bivol is the most dangerous opponent Canelo has faced other than perhaps GGG in their first fight and of course FMJr. I think Bivol hasn't faced an opponent of near Canelo's mettle. I think he hasn't been in a fight of this magnitude. I think Canelo is at or approaching the peak of his excellence and remains unsatisfied with it. I don't think he will underestimate the task he has set himself. He will come prepared. As will Bivol. #2 tries harder, right? I think Bivol will try to box to a decision and am not all that sure that he can't get fair officiating but that doesn't remove the two previously mentioned advantages that Canelo enjoys. I am 100 percent certain, however, that any decision will be instantly declared a robbery by the opposing cult. How does the fight go? Some variation of: Bivol on his toes boxing and moving trying to gain a points advantage which he likely will early with Alvarez trying to cut off the ring and work Bivol's body which will likely be more successful as the fight goes on. In the end I think Canelo stops Bivol. Might be down on the cards at the time of the stoppage. There are plenty of more qualified people around here that disagree with this analysis, I'm sure. That said, I can't really think of an ending that would shock me unless maybe it's some kind of blowout; an early beatdown and KO or one guy dominating 10 of 12 rounds for the undeniable UD something like that. Props to both guys, but especially Alvarez because he is finally taking a real, serious risk here. He has much more to lose and could easily have never mentioned Bivol's name. This is a fight I've been hoping to see for quite awhile. Looking forward to it. Kind of rooting for Canelo, I guess, though not by that much. Bivol could win me over easily. Truth is I have alot of admiration for both fighters and really just want an epic contest with a reasonable result. GGG vs Canelo 3? Depends how Canelo looks against Bivol, I suppose. What if Bivol weakens Canelo? It's boxing. Anything can happen.
Great post man. Nice to actually chat with someone here as opposed to the flaming that normally goes on.
