....but he did better in his fight with PBF than the undefeated, young, supposedly better fighter Ricky Hatton.:deal So if DLH is shot (which many people have said based on the PBF fight), what does that say about Hatton:think
Oscar definitely isn't shot. Of course, he isn't the fighter that he was 10 years ago, when he was pd4pd #1 by Ring mag... but of course that can't be expected. Oscar's problem is inactivity, shoulder injuries, and the fact that he focuses much more on promotion, than he does on fighting. Those are just the facts. Of course, Oscar came into the fight against Mayweather in great shape. But you can't be a part time boxer at Oscar's age, and expect to always just enter the ring in prime form.
I told people before the fight that Oscar had a better chance to beat PBF than Hatton did and they thought I was crazy.:-(
I don't understand this myself. DLH is superior to Hatton in every way, even at this advanced age. And Hatton better not fight DLH. Even weight drained at 147, DLH will crush him.
De La Hoya is definitely not shot and to be honest, was probably a better fighter than Hatton that night.
It doesn't changed anything. DLH is still shot. :yep Hatton? Styles makes fight . . . Hatton being KOed by PBF doesn't mean Hatton is shot too or worst. Hatton's aggresiveness gave PBF all the chances to find the opening to deliver the killer punch . . . that's what happened there. DLH never comes in for an attack open and careless so PBF didn't find a chance to K.O. him. See the difference. :hey
Looking at last nights fight i dont think Hatton would fair to badly, DLH hasnt got the speed of Mayweather so hatton may be able to get in easier without being tagged as much. Still, im not as confident as i would have been two days ago
I think its in terms of the Oscar's style matching up better vs Floyd's...but I think you are pretty much spot on.
dlh's not shot, but in fairness to hatton, dlh unlike hatton had some physical advantages over pbf (namely size and probably strength) while hatton had no physical advantages and this might explain the difference in outcomes
