He's not afraid of a fight going anywhere, really.

Neither of them would. Huerta is so predictable and Penn (obviously) has the answer.

 

You're right there. His stand-up is very good. I thought he was more of a flashy throw a superman punch or jab and back kicks but his boxing is actually pretty good. He makes use of the jab very well and his straight right (left?) is very accurate and powerful. Straight down the pipe every time.

Still, BJ's stand-up is better.:deal

 

I think Brock is arrogant to but i also think he doesnt know how to turn off his wrestling persona either...:rasta

 

That was one of the best UFC's that I can remember.
Was really impressed with Demian Maia and Jason Macdonald showed some tenacity and heart to stick with a talented bjj guy for so long.
Florian and Huerta wasnt the war I expected, but a great face off none the less.
GSP put in a champions performance against a very tough Fitch. GSP showed great stand up and ground skill that u need to be a champ, and I think Fitch will learn from this and come back stronger & add the skills to his tremendous heart and will. An exciting prospect. And the face off with BJ at the end, made my dreams come true
And Brock Lesner, well hes a beast. Strong, fast and charismatic, I think last nite showed hes a danger to any heavyweight in MMA, what would a fight with Fedor be like?

 

I actually felt better about BJ:s chances after watching GSP last night. GSP showed that he can't take down and dominate everyone on the ground, and he also showed that his stamina has limits. If BJ gets into best possible shape for once I feel that he can exploit this. Standing up, it will always be his fight.

 

Almost all the times when GSP had effective take-downs it was after he had landed a good punch. When he shot without landing first he wasn't as effective. He also failed to do real damage on the ground.

As for stamina, he defintely slowed down towards the end, even though clearly dominating. There's nothing really strange about that since it was a high paced 5 rounder, but I've never seen him even a bit tired before. It showed he was human. For me, his strength and stamina are his two real advantages over Penn. And since he met more or less his equal in that department yesterday, I've got the feeling that a Penn in really good shape wouldn't be that far behind in these aspects. GSP would still hold the edge, of course,

What makes you think he would be more or less equal to Penn standing up? He wasn't the last time and since then he's been KO'd standing up. Even last night he took some leather while standing, even if he dominated that part.

I still hold GSP as the favourite against Penn, but BJ can definitely pull it off.

 

Why are people making a stand up war trivial between GSP and Penn? There is only one unbiased analysis there is.. assuming they are equal strikers. BJ can hurt GSP but GSP will not be able to put a dent in BJs face...Matt Hughes hammerfisted BJs face for a full minute and BJ was alert the whole time and unblemished.

This is simple, ground advantage GSP. Stand up Penn

 

It doesn't matter what B.J's face looks like after being hit, it scores points, just like GSP's leg kicks score points. I feel the standup is almost even, Not enough to say if the fight stays standing B.J wins easily.

 

Thats not exactly what I meant..BJ just doesnt get fazed with punches. I mean he took some hard lefts from Sherk and he was laughing in the locker room post fight "how the little ****er can box"

This allows him to be fearless in a way with his attacks which is a big advantage.

I really dont know who can make BJ think twice striking at 155 or 170.

 

I agree B.J's head does seem to be made of concrete, I don't ever remember the guy even bleeding.

 

Hes got a huge head and face..that always helps
