Some Questions about the implications of Liston's alleged cheating attempts Vs Ali

    I wasn't around back then, so help me out here.

    Are these allegations about the blinding substance on the gloves taken seriously by historians?

    Just rewatched the fight again yesterday and Ali certainly deserves an Oscar if he was only acting/pretending to be vision impaired in that 5th(?) Round where he just puts his hands up and runs/takes punishment.


    If Liston/his corner did in fact attempt to cheat as a reigning heavyweight champ champ against a 7-1 underdog
    and quit on his stool literally 1-2 rounds after the attempt to blind Ali failed (even though the last round was still somewhat competitive imo)

    Then what does that say about his legacy, his mental toughness(which factors into h2h matchups against guys like Tyson or Foreman)

    Also maybe that means that Liston just quit again after getting legitimately dropped by Ali(after all Ali did hurt him at least twice in the first fight) in the rematch
