Well the majority of people here seem to agree that while Dirrell is faster, Ward has more tools in his toolbox and will beat Dirrell, and to be honest those were my initial thoughts too. But here's the thing: Ward is a fast fighter too, and therefore is used to fighting guys who are slower than him. When a fast fighter fights a guy who's even faster, that's always tricky.

On the other hand, Ward must have faced some genuine speedsters in all those big amateur tournaments, and besides, at the end of the day like a certain someone said skills pay the bills. So the bottom line is i still pick Ward. Dirrell gives him a fight though.

Dirrell got that go big or go home situation now...
he also faced the more threatening of the tournament.. against ward i think it will be a challenging sparring match that Dirrell could surely win.

Dirrell has faster hands .. I think ward is faster on his feet and his reflexes ... ward is a bit more solid fundamentally and has a few more tricks up his sleeve ... dirrell has the edge in power and I think its a toss up ... if they fight 10 times I think they go 5-5. U can probably throw some draws in there also .. very good matchup .. but if ur not a fan of both or either it might turn out to be a boring fight

well, based on the things I saw, I can imagine Ward bulling Dirrell out of ring with his rough tactics. I somehow have a feeling it will be a glorifying sparing match between the two with a result that suits both of them.

Dirrell is faster and more naturally talented, Ward has a better skills set.

However, as someone has said, Ward doesn't have an amazing resume and is still pretty green - can he handle someone as fast as Dirrell?

I hear from lot of people that Ward may have a suspect chin - is Dirrells speed and pop enough to deck him or take him out?

From what i've seen so far i'd pick Dirrell - someone bumps this thread after saturday and we'll see how opinions change!

Ward will not allow Dirrell to win. Ward bullies him to a clear UD.

-IMO Dirrell has the faster hands...Ward has decent handspeed compared to Dirrell but Ward isnt that far behind...Ward knows how the use timing to offset the speed of fighters if they're a little bit quicker than him.

-IMO I would lean toward Ward given that he knows how to dictate and impose him gameplan a little better than Dirrell...Dirrell has shown that he can get off his gameplan if things arent going his way...Dirrell has since shown he's getting better and better...Overall skillset, I will give the edge to Ward...by a slim margin.

-IMO Ward wins this off of his ring generalship...Dirrell will make Ward hard and Dirrell will have his moments but I just think Ward will prevail because he can make the proper adjustments needed.!:good

Man, after this Kessler win people are talking about Ward like he's some kind of p4p god. The dude is skilled and talented but that victory flattered him. He's not a master of timing, movement and craft, he just looked good.

Not trying to take away from his win cause he did very well for himself but it wasn't exactly the most shocking victory ever.

It could well be the case that Ward crumbles when he meets someone who beats him to the punch and comes at him from angles. Or maybe he looks terrible when he's against someone who can use good movement. Or maybe he bottles it when someone stands right in front of him and bullies him more than he can them.

That's whats so awesome about this tournament; one fight changes everything. People can go from favourite to "sure to exit the tourney" in the space of one loss.

Dirrell came on leaps and bounds from Froch to Abraham, i'm sure he'll do the same for the Ward fight. How much will Ward improve?

I wouldnt call myself a fan of eather, but ill answer anyways

    IMO

    - Dirrell
    - Ward, but Dirrell will gain on him if he continues to improve, just needs to tighten a few things here n there and settle down a bit more to use the skills he has.
    - Dirrell

Duddy may have a bit more power maybe? And Ward isn't actually a 'bum rusher' of course while R3 is still pretty fast.
