What Joe Frazier did is irrelevant. How you feel about an exercise, natural or unnatural, is also irrelevant.

Stretching improves muscle performance and helps prevent injuries. Do a light stretch after warmup and maintenance stretching or heavy stretching after workout when the muscles are tired and have least resistance.

Maintenance stretching helps muscle recovery by squeezing out lactic acid and heavy stretching to improve flexibility is easiest when the muscles are fatigued after heavy training.

Doing stretches between sets of exercises improves performance and helps muscle recover faster from the fatigue of that set.

If you're talking static stretches, no, they don't improve performance between sets. If anything static stretches between sets lower performance.

Why does this matter to you?

    Again, why?

Depends what you're attempting to achieve.

This doesn't even make sense. Why would stretching be unnatural to you?
