Some say the blueprint to beating Tyson was fighting like Tillis did. Would Ali have beaten Tyson?

I actually thought Holmes won the second fight against Spinks. Holmes was a resilient fighter at every stage of his career, he knew how to get out of trouble but Tyson KO'd him and that is a justified reason to believe that Tyson could KO Ali as well when he has him in trouble.

Flying around the ring? I'd hate to see plodding. Holmes wasn't flying anywhere.

From the fight vs Liston to exile please name these fights where he was "hit all the time". This should be good.

You simply need to find a new past time, because boxing talk sure ain't getting it done for you.

Calling Green as fast as Ali cancels out any input you ever have on him.

As for which version would have the best chance, i'd take either thanks ;)

That he could beat guys like Mercer is testament to how good he had been. Even over the hill he was still faring well with the likes of Mercer and McCall.

Tyson knocked him out because he was a top fighter who was one of the best ever at stopping overmatched foes. Holmes at this stage of his career was badly overmatched. Tyson was light years better than McCall and Mercer and had more tools to finish a guy like Holmes than Holyfield did. Holyfield was of course stronger than Tyson in other area's.

Cooper had Ali in trouble but he was still a developing fighter. He was a much better fighter 3-4 years later despite winning the title in his next fight. Throw the Ali of the Cooper fight in with Tyson and Tyson could well beat him. Right pre exile he was a different animal.

Why are we talking Frazier - Tyson? I was simply talking stamina, which Frazier had more of. I would agree Tyson would stop Frazier early but it has sfa to do with stamina.

Well no, not at all. Holmes was a post prime shell when he fought Tyson. Holmes said this when King proposed the fight and Tyson acknowledged it afterwards. That fight has no relevance to the hypothetical match up.

I agree he won it but he looked TERRIBLE in doing so. Even his stamina was gone.

If you think this justifies him stopping PEAK Ali, well good luck with that.

Ali did not get hit all the time lol It was not impossible for some of his opponents to land a few punches here and there during a 15 round fight, but my god did his opponents miss loads. I would not pick Ali just because of his reflexes. I think Ali has other things about him which make him great which have been mentioned in the thread.

I love it how Holmes after the fight blamed Don King and the lack of time needed to prepare for a fight with Mike Tyson after he got KO'd. He didn't have to take the fight, no one forced him too at gun point, but he chose to do it because he actually thought he could beat Mike Tyson which his interview after the Biggs fight showed. He is simply making a u turn and trying to save face.

Tyson is generally respectful to fighters and does not take his defeats personally, you do not hear him ramble on and on mocking and criticizing the likes of Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis but on the other hand Lewis still hasn't gotten over what Rahman did to him and keeps mocking Rahman in interviews to this day.

    That`s right Mike Tyson was always a class act. Iron Mike`s prime ended 10 minutes before he entered the ring against Buster Douglas {don't you know?}

You haven't seen full Ali fights then. Ali himself missed plenty BC his accuracy was also not on point a lot despite Cosell being a cheerleader... A few punches? See this is how I know nostalgia takes over.

How on God's Green Earth could you say Tyson's chin is "far" superior to Frazier's... There seems to be very little evidence backing up such a statement considering the KO's of each. Expand on how it's far better

Holmes took the fight because he was to be paid 3.5 million. The discussion is not about who was at fault for Larry's poor condition.
The discussion is how Muhammad Ali would do against Tyson, for which the Tyson Holmes provides no meaningful insight.

Not long back you were saying Green was just as fast as Ali and then you say something even worse, like Ali got hit all the time. I think you just hate Ali and doing your best to make him look bad. I won't be replying anymore.
