Some say the blueprint to beating Tyson was fighting like Tillis did. Would Ali have beaten Tyson?

By watching film on youtube, perhaps. Tyson's chin is far superior to Frazier's it's not even funny. Bonavena had Frazier feeling queery where Tyson shipped bombs against 6'5" 240 plus pound hitters. It shouldn't even be up for debate!

How many powerpunchers did Frazier face in his career? How many heavyweights weighing 225 lbs or more did Frazier face? How many times was Frazier down in his career and what punches put him down? Were they single shots or accumulative?

11:23. Bonavena, a small heavyweight compared to the 80's standards, knocks Joe down with a single overhand right. Moments later he knocks him down again.

Tyson is certainly capable of knocking someone out in the later rounds. Is it really his fault that Bonecrusher and Tucker refused to engage?

Hmmmm, I might be confusing ETM with others on this thread. From what I remember, ETM posted that Norton and Frazier were better equipped at beating Ali than Tyson was, which I find preposterous. Tyson is generally regarded as the best offensive fighter in the division's history. If anyone could take Ali out, it would be Tyson, who found success against that style of fighter.

Each guy has the kryptonite for the other. I lean towards Tyson winning because he had a good work rate during his prime years and Ali would have to tie Mike up the entire fight without slowing down. He'll have to score with power shots of his own, which I don't think is enough to get a tip top shape Tyson out of there.

Watch the fight again. Holmes is moving around like a spring chicken. He's all over the place.

Action starts at 19:02. Holmes moves from the start and doesn't let up, even in the 4th when he tries clowning.

I personally don't see Tyson getting up from those shits Frazier got hit with.

There is no way Joe Frazier can take the punches that Tyson was taking against Ruddock and later against Lewis. If Foreman can floor him with such ease during his top days, Lewis will have no problem either and it took Lewis almost 9 rounds to get rid of a Washed up Tyson.

There is no need to get up if you are not going down in the first place. Frazier is definately going down from single shots from the likes of Ruddock and Lewis.

It's fairly obvious. But people have their agendas and biases. Tyson's chin is actually one of the best at heavyweight. McCall, Chuvalo, Tua and maybe Mercer have better beards. And even Mercer was dropped from a single hook from Holyfield. It took the kitchen sink to get Tyson out of there and yet he was still standing while Holyfield teed off in their first bout. Lennox Lewis has even said he was astounded at the power shots Tyson absorbed. And Razor Ruddock thought Mike was on steroids.

So yeah, Tyson's chin is top tier. One of the best. Frazier's is good but nowhere near Tyson's level.

First off Mike wouldn't have gotten hit by those wind ups Foreman was slinging. Frazier was almost posing with his chin and inviting free shots for how wide open he was. Second Tyson might get stunned but he's shown it takes cumulative shots to put him down. And this is over the course of the fight and the long haul. Tyson ain't going down early in fights, and not from single shots.

Watch the second Frazier fight and all the punches that don't even touch Joe that Cossell calls....I'm not going to thru every fight....if you can't watch the fights without ability to see landed shots and missed ones its pointless.

You guys don't want to see that though.Ali can't be hit and can't miss , the mere thought of someone defeating him brings out panic on here...lol

So besides Joe who George Chuvalo said was the hardest of anyone he faced to hit and had deceptively good defense you can't name anyone. I don't know if you watched them all the way through but Ali did ok overall.

Lets be very clear here Cassius Clay was no where near the greatest hw of all time. He was a smack talker with a decent chin, who had the money behind him to get decisions he didn’t deserve more often than not. He was the cash cow and lol cow of the current boxing writers favourite era for subjective reasons.

A prime Tyson fighting in Tyson’s era would UD Clay.

In Clays own era, it was notoriously difficult for anyone to get a decision against him even if he was just running and clowning most of the time.

Cassius Clay has become myth and legend at this point.

Very few of the people on here singing his praises, have objectively sat down and watched him lose fights, which go down in the history books as wins. There are at least 5-6 of those...which leads us to say with all those losses he wasn’t even the greatest of his era.

You need to do more than read the boxing writers rim job on Cassius Clay to have an objective opinion on him. Watching his entire career would be a start and qualify you to start echoing those boxing writers.

This was Joe Frazier`s 11th pro fight and he was facing a top 10 contender. Who was Mike Tyson fighting in his 10th and 11th pro fights? "Wiillie Falldown" and "Kenny Getup"?
